hey there I'm looking into replacing my old mobo CPU and ram
i already have:
500w antec EA-500 psu
NZXT Gamma case
MSI HD 6950 Twin Frozr III 2 GB

i was looking at
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-001-GI
or
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-111-OE

although im not exactly sure on the difference between the two motherboards or if my 500w PSU will be able to handle it
i think i need an OS as well as my old parts were from a Packard bell so i assume the OS is tied to the motherboard ?

budget is £400 i could possibly stretch to £450
will be using for Gaming and general use
any help/suggestions welcomed
thanks

I would go with the Gigabyte board, it gets good reviews from various review sites.

Your PSU will be fine.

I've never had any issue switching my OEM between motherboards. You can always just call the number to confirm you are using it on only one system as well. Depends if you have the CD key, without it I guess you need a new license.

I would go for the Gigabyte, if only for the superior RMA which is also in the UK. Had two Gigabyte boards and no problems with either! Saying that, my MSI P35 lasted me 3 years without issue too.

ok so my budget has changed slightly :(
what should i be looking at for around £350 doesnt have to be overclocked as i can give that a go myself nor part of a bundle but i still need the same components system is to be used for gaming, thanks for previous replies

ok thanks, with these parts am i losing any major features/power from the bundles i was looking at? ignoring the OC obviously

None what so ever, as I specced what one of the bundles is, the ram I think is a different manufacturer.

are there any places i could save money for little performance loss or spend a small amount more for better quality/spec
sorry for all the questions i don't get the money to spend on this kind of thing very often just want to get the best i can for my money :)

The MSI board works great for me why the negativity on it ?
Because that Gigabyte board is the best among the £80 price tag Z77 board?

Also, the Gigabyte has UK rma base, while MSI does not. Also if I remember right, according to review the MSI Z77 G43 is voltage locked, so it would struggle to do higher overclockings.

It's not that the MSI board is poor, it is just that the Gigabyte offering better overclocking and UK rma base for the same price making it a better choice.

I was looking for a similar bundle, I've got a similar budget of £400-500,
I've already got
500W PSU
4GB DDR2
5850 GPU
BD Drive
p5k Motherboard
Q6600 Processor
My processor and ram are noticeably older. So was looking for a bundle to upgrade or parts, maybe with an Ivy-bridge and DDR3.

What's tri-channel and quad channel? is this something I should be worried about?
