Vista only for Halo 2!

I guess I'm not that bothered about Halo2 as I've got it on my Xbox and personally thought it was only an average FPS and there are much better titles on the PC anyway.

It's a bit of a naff trick to pull making it only run on Vista though, and worrying for any future games from Microsoft. I hope they don't start making to many games Vista only because on my home machine I just don't see the point in upgrading, certainly not yet and not for the amount of money I'm sure it'll cost. Sounds like a money grabbing excerise to me :(

Vista....pffft

Why should i pay Microsoft to be a Beta tester......

Might be worth upgrading by the time its had its 2nd service pack bug fix...

As for Halo 2....who cares really?

wasnt this one of those "xbox only" games like halo1

who wants a little more spare cash... thats right, microsoft!
i'm sure something'll be able to get done so it'll work on xp.

Yeah, there'll be some guy some where in the world with some geek about him that'll figure out how to get it working on XP.

It is a shame though, I would really like to play Halo 2 on my PC but from what that article says, windows vista is going to be power hungry and i'm not going to upgrade my entire system for a game which has by todays standard, average graphics

I probably wouldn't even of bought Halo 2 anyway, but this makes my mind up for me! Personally, i have nothing against Microsoft but these tactics stink to high heaven!

Could this be a sign of things to come?

Indeed.

Halo might have been a good console FPS, but with much stiffer competition on the PC, it was average at best. What's the betting Halo 2 will look like a game from a couple of years ago and yet run like a dog?

Pretty high. I think the idea is to entice people into getting vista. Bad idea imo, they'll be releasing Halo2 after Vista (If they want people to buy it), and it will be practically ancient by the time they do. UT2007 will probably be out by then, and Halo2 won't do well at all.

why on earth would anyone want a OS that is graphcis, memory and CPU hungry anyway??

I want a OS that does everything thats needed but takes up as little resources as possible.

This is the problem when Microsoft have got their fingers in lots of different pies.

exactly, all i want my OS for is so i can play a few games, surf the internet and do my homework on it. Likewise, I'm sure thats what most people want from an OS. If you want an OS that looks good, download windows blinds or something

I think they should concentrate on making Vista good enough to buy instead of thinking that people will buy it depending on what games will run on it

There's still a lot of business' and consumers who will buy the latest Microsoft product because it's the latest Microsoft product (just like gamers who buy the latest graphics card even though they don't need it). OEM's will be forced to provide it on their desktops and IT support people will have to upgrade to stay employable. Once that happens the rest of the population will upgrade once they see their "geek" mates using it.

Happened with Windows 2000, XP and will happen with Vista.

Unfortunately. :(

Personally I thought that Halo 2 wasn't exactly a "killer" title so I probably wouldn't buy it anyway. :)

That does suck, I've been waiting for Halo 2 for ages - I refuse to play FPS on consoles.
I assume Vista will be 64-bit only? I'm not gonna upgrade to play one game, Halo the first wasn't quite that good.

As if 95% of you guys were not going to just go and get Vista as soon as it was available anyway.

i stuck with 98 for ages after XP came out, purely because i didnt need XP '98 had all i needed.
all depends on compatibility issues with updates and vital things, if its just some specific things that wont run then i'll probably stay with XP for quite a bit :p
