Vista only for Halo 2!

Hardly surprising and I expect other sofware developers to make Vista only software.

Microsoft Flight Sim X better not be Microsoft Vista only. With Microsoft wanting shorther release dates between O/S releases, what's the point in getting Vista? I'm waiting three years for Vienna.

Well I for one am certainly happy. I've always moved up to the next OS when it's available and I've been waiting and waiting for news of Halo 2. Yippee! *does a jig*

Microsoft made AOE3 WinXP only, to get people to upgrade(although there is a workaround apparently). Theyll do the same with Windows Vista on all future Microsoft releases i bet.

Halo 2 was seriously overrated too.

This won't affect my decision to go to Vista at all

Halo was originally intended for the PC, then re-worked for the X-Box. When it was finally released on the PC it was average at best, really rather disappointing

Halo 2 is probably only going to be out 2007 (as a guess) at which point we will have UT2007 which is likely to be far better. I'm hardly holding my breath

its gonna look so dated unless they bump up the textures. I think im right in saying that on the 360 halo 2 looks better due to some extra downloadable textures or something?

and as a game, we've had half life 2 and fear so its not really going to be at all impressive for the majority of hardcore fans

As if 95% of you guys were not going to just go and get Vista as soon as it was available anyway.

I would be, though only if it's under my works current site license where I can use one copy of the latest Microsoft core desktop products at home, for educational purposes. If so it'll cost me £20 for the official CD direct. :)

Vista....pffft

Why should i pay Microsoft to be a Beta tester......

Might be worth upgrading by the time its had its 2nd service pack bug fix...

As for Halo 2....who cares really?

Better games out than halo2 anyway... i mean look at BF2 for one. If you like online games thats the game to go for :p

Not bothered about the game as it will just be a lousy port of an average game anyway no doubt.

But.....

Can someone please remind me of why Microsoft need to use tactics like this to boost profits?

Didn't know they were that cash strapped to be honest.

So they want people to probably have to upgrade their PC, then pay a big chunk for a buggy O.S. to play a poor port, almost certainly, of a mediocre console game.

Think i'll give it a miss for the mo. ;)

ETA for Vienna is 2011. You really want to wait till then?

..and Microsoft shareholders jus screamed out in terror at your statement. If Vista is good and has a lifespan the same as XP then within 2 years or the 3 years mark I will buy Vista.

I just got XP last Feb after having Win ME. Vista with various addons like Perfect diskm DUI addons and other utilities has turned out to be a great O/S IMHO, however, 'cause Microsoft has shareholders I can't see Vienna being released in 2011. I see it about 3 years after Vista. So time wise I guess Vista is the new Millenium Edition.

I've still yet to see a reason for me to buy Vista, so I think Microsoft know now in the age of blogs, and more and more O.S addons that Vista will be a hardsell to businesses and consumers who upgrade their PC. People will only get Vista to say they've got the latest tech, but in reality it wont be complete till 3 years into it's shelf life when all the patches are out.

Ok well say Vista comes out late 2006 to early 2007, (the latter is more likely imo), this would put Vienna to be released at least 2010.

Perhaps, but I know people who still have '98 and ME, and many games run fine on that. XP support may end when Vista comes out so who knows, and they'll be freeware plugins for the XP like there has been with Windowblinds.

XP has the potential to last another 5 years at least IMO. It's just if software companies make O/S exclusive games which could be the problem, but if they do that then I wont bother with that game. They'll lose out on two fronts the O/S and the game side.

I thought they were both pump.

The original ideas touted around the web when it was first announced, a free form world, controllable team mates, free form campaign, all kinds of drivable vehicles, sounded great.

When the average looking, 10 hour long, heavily scripted generic FPS that we now know as HALO arrived, it bared little relation to what was touted before, mainly because it had to be butchered to fit an X-box.

Yet some people see it as the best console FPS. I never could see the appeal especially compared to other games like Goldeneye (that really did bring with it amazing advancements).
