I have 2 flex-time jobs at the moment, (usually fulltime work)
Chief Network Engineer for NHS
Likes: Pay is ok, technology, new stuff, a physical and mental challenge. Spending a lot of time making it all work and admiring my job when it's finished.
Dislikes: When it don't work you're in deep trouble, 10,000 user base + is no joke when your installing SAN, Senior managers keep calling me every 10 minutes of the day for a update on the project. Over 100 miles each way to the site. Low level support mucking me around (being interrupted)
Own business (mainly contracting for Shell)
Likes: Money is very good, fuel card, a different challenge every time, meeting new people, often managing a small team of 10 people to help me complete the project: ie complete re-wire of the server room, relocating servers etc.
Dislikes: Funny hours, long hours to site sometimes, very hard work and often too tired to drive back home (Wife picks me up sometimes) Distance to site can be anything from over the road to 300 miles each way.
