Not sure if this has been posted but here goes:

RELEASE NOTES:

It’s called the “Chuck patch” in honor of our guy that found a way of enabling this functionality. Of course the reason why this is so important is Oblivion is one of the best looking games available in the market. Enabling High Dynamic Range and Anti Aliasing effects make this game look even better. Needless to say only ATI can support that configuration. So the Catalyst team is giving a special present to owners of ATI cards, an image quality experience unrivaled by any other.

This proof of concept driver has something for image quality freaks and performance junkies (and even for both at the same time)

This patch provides

1) HDR effects plus AA at the same time. The visual results are stunning. (To enable, ignore the AA settings in the game and enable it via Catalyst Control Center)

2) Crossfire support for the game via AFR mode. Good performance gains for all crossfire owners.

Just tried this and the game now looks absolutely stunning!

Even though AA+HDR are on, i've actually seen a performance increase too?

These screenshots are with 6xAA 16xHQAF + HDR resized from 1280x1024!

I'm assuming this wouldn't work with my lowly XT850XT PE :(
I only run at 1280x1024 but would like to see HDR on it's own but I'll need to upgrade I suppose if I want to use it in this game.

Ohh well back to 4AA and bloom ;)

^^^Don't believe this post.

Although this fix is welcome, it comes with a big performance hit, way too juddery for me in detailed outdoor area's with 16X HQAF, AA+HDR.

And you can tell that... how? I've honestly seen a couple of FPS increase. I've always played at those settings, and yes it gets very juddery, but even now, it's even less juddery than it was, and i can stand by that with the FRAPS fps counter. It may be beacuse i've gone from catalyst 6.2 to these patched 6.3 drivers, but there's definately been a boost. I'm sure if i had an Nvidia card you'd aggree with me in an instant hey :)

Also... don't you have a 6600GT?

Some more HDR+AA screenies.

I could'nt get this to work, reinstalled the driver twice clean.

Anyone think it might have something to do with the 4096 texture mod's?

So you're saying that with 16X HQAF, 6XAA+HDR you get acceptable FPS...yeah right :D

Nope, nowhere near acceptable. I regularly see it below 20fps, please tell me where i said the fps was acceptable? :) The games a bit better with 4xaa and 8xaf, but the performance difference between the two is nothing, they both perform as dire as each other, so i stick it on the top setting.

not only that he's got a dam good clocker he's keeping up with the water cooled boys on air
He needs to update his sig then ;)

My X1800 XT 256mb is keeping up with some X1900 XT's, that's nothing :p

I'm glad that you're happy with this fix, but your original post's would lead ppl to believe that at your settings this game is playable...which it aint (with a single card at least)

better to have the choice ;)
Also, 2xAA from 0xAA gives a massive IQ performance, so even if you have to use just 2xAA for playable fps -> it will look a hell of a lot better.

Cheers ;)

One things for sure, the x1000 series are definitely doing the business with the most demanding game out there...Oblivion.

I agree, it's also great to at least have the option to have HDR+AA :)

From benchmarks i've seen even the X1800 XT outperforms the 7900GTX which is a bit of a shocker for me!

Silly question but do you have to uninstall the old cats (6.3) or is this a patch to upgrade the cats.
