Beta 6.3 Catalyst for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Glad I stuck with the card I had and just played the game :)

The pics look good, so good luck to the ATI folks I say - ramp it all up.

I'm on a 6800GT @ 1280x1024, 4xAA and 16xAF withh all the addon LODs and a few .ini tweaks as well. I get around the 15-25 fps mark outdoors which doesn't look that clever on paper but for me this is perfectly acceptable in this game. I've had no problems with undue stuttering or anything else untowards and I finished the main quest five days a go (amongst many others), so I think I've seen most of what there is to offer now.
For me it makes a refreshing change not to need 50 fps+ in a game.

No I hadn't seen it, thanks my man.
Downloaded from rabidshare @ 800 Kbs - back of the net!

Comparison screens here : http://luminair.googlepages.com/jarrodlandscapetexturemodcomparescreenshots

Going by the Elderscrolls forums it looks like this doesn't have a performance hit either, just like all the other LOD stuff.

Edit: Installed and won't be going back - very impressed, especially with rocks etc. Somehow, it alos appears to have cured my crashing when exiting the game. Top drawer :)

Cant wait to get home and give this a try, I thought the lack off AA was very noticable in oblivion altho the HDR made up for it.

EDIT: Them pics look great

AA has always been available in Oblivion
These drivers allow HDR and AA at the same time.

Just tried this and the game now looks absolutely stunning!

Even though AA+HDR are on, i've actually seen a performance increase too?

QUOTE]

Though uve not seen an increase in fps, i must say ive not noticed a decline either! even if it were one or to frames below what i was getting (ran exellently on my rig with setings already maxed), this is nothing compared to how superb this game now looks!!! kudos to Ati on this

cant see what all the fuss is about? how come graphically its so much of a hog? cant see much there thats better than FEAR? if anything... other than landscapes...

dont think there is a worse performance combination that wide landscapes, lots of leaves, trees and bushes and trying to apply AA or HDR to them.
From the look of the benchmarks Ive seen, outdoor fps is roughly 25% of what people get indoors.

City of villians with a team of 8 and all setting maxed will tax my pc more than Oblivion will.

Oblivion has the nicer looking graphics but city of villians effects just seem to cripple things more.

I installed the update but the game still won't let me select both AA and HDR.
UPDATE: AHHH you select the AA in control centre, not in game yeah?
