Photoshop tutorials for 'cartoon' colouring?

basically im looking for some more tutorials that produce effects like this :

also what sort of objects would be worth doing to start with?
maybe shapes or something?

edit : so ive decided to draw what he did, here it is so far :

im not a very good drawer but still

just need to finish the shading then its all down to photoshop

Good job, just need to work on your shading so it dosnt look so flat.

Working on the drawing shading would probably help when you go to colour it.

I'd say do the shading at the colouring stage. Play around with blending gradients into the blocks of colour etc. Have you tried doing any vector art? As it would be very easy to block the colour in with these sort of drawings, using something like Adobe Illustrator or the pen tool in photoshop.

Homer simpson probably is not the best thing to do shading with due to using blocks of colours/cell shading and rarely has any shadows

i haven't tryed any vector art yet, got any good examples?

If so please get Drawing on the right side of the brain book by Betty Edwards.

I've mentioned it a few times before but it really is an awsome book to impove your drawing skills.

Nice drawing.

Just a pointer , the small area under Homers right ( as you look at it ) eye should be in yellow not brown.
