I want a big case for christmas (quite literaly) lol and i was woundering if anyone has got any suggestions, by big i mean LOTS of interior space, i hate having so many cables all over my motherboard and what not

things i have considerd

Akasa Eclipse 62
Antec P180 (currently winning)

and the really nice big cases from Lian Li are kinda outa price range! (dammit)

i say, i could probably strech to £120 ish,

so whats the verdict? any ideas?

i kinda like coolmaster stackers, but imo they are pig ugly, so thats a no go :P

*edit*

PC-767 << that case has taken the lead now :P omg i bum it

Thermaltake Armour. Full tower, nice and big with plenty of space around the mobo and disk cages. Well built too with all the screwless clips and fan filters and no sharp edges! You can run a lot of the cables behind the disk cages to keep out of site.

Looks cool too

What he said!

I've got one and there is acres of room :D

Edit : Can post some pics if you'd like?

Its made fairly well, my Dad has the aluminium one (Silver) and that seems a bit flimsy, mines the steel one (Black) and is quite solid and generally quite well built.

The hard drive / cd drive bay clips work quite well and give no grief, however the ones for holding in the PCI cards etc are shabby but they can be removed.

A few good point are the drive trays are completely customisable, have what you want where you want and all the air intakes are filtered, which is a plus if you like to keep your inards dust free.

A bad point is that the tray isnt removable, doesnt really bother me, but it might some.

:)

two questions

there are several different types of the armour case, whats the difference?

also, i got laughed at for suggesting this to a mate :( but is it possible to remove those flappy bits on the front? just not my cup of tea tbh, however :) very cheap for its size imo so yeah... this is deffinatly a contender... if i cant afford the lian li i think i will get this one

*edit**

hehe thank you mate

The Akasa Amber is a very well laid out case and is well built to boot

Front intake on the Eclipse is filtered :)

The one in the Eclipse is :D

The only negative things I can find with this case are the plastic front (no worse than the flappy panels on the front of the armor in my opinion) and its a bit tricky to screw in the top 2 dvd drives as they are quite far in from the right hand side. If you have a long screwdriver you will be fine though - I didn't have one at the time :p

i dont suppose anyone could post or link me to some pictures of the akasa eclipse with a system in, nice high res ones so i can actualy see it, lol sounds silly but on the web all akasa eclipse piccies are tiny!!

Some Eclipse pics.

Thats my system in my sig in it:

eclipse2.jpg

Notice the amount of space between the motherboard and the drive bays.
Also look how small the 120mm fan at the back looks :)

Flip the top off (10 second job, 2 thumbscrews like with a side panel)
Dvd drives on the right hand side, shows how wide the case really is.
Plenty of room around the psu on the left too.

hehehe thank you guys

still cant make my mind up :P

**edit**

its the thermaltake armor... guh, so which one to get? i aint fussed for the colour but theres 2 types! whats the difference :o

2**edit***

LOL, I'm completely torn in between these two cases for my next build too. First it was the armour cos it's very functional and looks very nice. I went *pfft* to the Akasa case when I saw it but am now leaning towards it since it is wider for more airflow, has a bigger window and comes with handy castors. Since I might be moving it around a lot I fear if I have an armour then it will warp at the back as reviews have said.

Good choice.
I doubt you will be disapointed.

Just be careful while lugging it around, its heavy!! :p

I'll point out now that the window in mine was imported in from America by its previous owner (goreblast)
The one you can get over here is pretty big, but mine is a full clear panel :D

you dont understand heavy...

lol i just spent today going back and forth to the tip throwing away 19" illayma CRT's  lol

thats *pretty* much decided me things, i must admit im not to keen on it. however anything is an improvement (if i had a camera i would show you the piece of metalic crap my pc is sitting in atm)
