Is there any easy to read substantial evidence that an overclocked C2D performs better (more FPS, etc.) than an overclocked A64 X2 of equivalent price?
 
Most of the comparison reviews (between X2 and Core 2 Duo) had an overclocking section, 3 Ghz was one I saw a few times, you can also use something like this to compare performance at the same clock speed (X2 4800+ and E6600):
