I'd buy a 8800 if there was any PC games out at the moment that's worth playing. No point buying an expensive card only to look at it run 3d mark 06 all day. Might upgrade for UT2007.

Yeh, I AGREE games out at the moment are pretty poor. Was in a store last week and walked out empty handed having gone in there to buy a shooter or and involving game like Max Payne.

There's nothing out there shooter-wise mate. Last decent one released was probably FEAR or more recently, Call of Juarez. I'd love to buy a 8800 GTX and clock the pants of it, but with no games to play, it'll sit there and age gracefully, never reaching its full potential until late in the 8800's lifetime. Besides, I expect the R600's to be better!

ooooohhhhh a 7800GS AGP, would this be worth the upgrade over my 7600?

Honest replies please,

nope. not worth it at all. i don't think you'd notice the difference from your current card.

the only nvidia agp cards worth upgrading to are the gainward gs/gs+ models which have 20/24 pipes respectively. but they're way overpriced for what they are, especially now the x1950 from ati is available on agp.... ;)

Why is WC 8800GTX so much more expensive than the air cooled version? Surely a waterblock is cheaper than a larger heatpipe cooler?

Because it has a waterblock that's worth about £100 pre-fitted to it.
