Okay its simple a thread about Forza 2.

Talk about the latest news, videos and screenshots.

Game Features
What is Forza Motorsport.net
One thing that changes FM2 is the additional features they are including for the online community. Lets have a run down on some of the features. Its worth noting that not all the information regarding these features is yet known.

Photo Mode
Download your FM2 Photo Mode pictures that you capture in-game.
Upto 5 of your pictures can be shared online.

Online Stats
Forza 2 is to use an unprecedented amount of stats for a racing game.
Some of these included the below but more are expected.
Overall Rank
Time Trials Rank
Hot Lap Rank
Total Racing Time
Number of Total Races

Online Auction
This is a new feature which allows players to sell or buy other peoples actual cars. Like any auction you place a bid and the winning bid will cost the player the ingame credits that they purchased the car for. Expect the online auctions to be very addictive with many uniquely designed paint jobs or modifications to your favourite cars.
Features included:
Current bids
Sales
Notices to resolve any sold or expired auctions.

Online Tournaments
Like PGR3 its expected Forza 2 will offer several tournaments but will offer much more variety in the tournaments.

I understand their are other fan sites and will gladly link them with the above if anyone wants to point them out. Its my intention to also monitor the forums quite often for news or new media.
Anyone that finds new information please feel free to update this thread and upload images from their own or a free image hosting service...

Hopefully we'll have fewer retentives arguing in this thread. Do you think a Wheel is worth buying for this? I'm not sure I have the setup to do it justice as the wheel would be clamped to the desk the TV sits on.

I have a wheel and a racing seat ordered myself.
Only brifely played a mates wheel with PGR3 with mixed thoughts tbh.

The wheel is a very important part of this game if we believe the developers.
Its one area that may make the game exceptionally good or it may be the thing that people moan the most about.

Microsoft know that this has to be the game that shows the wheel off at its best if they fail then its hardly likely any other game will use the wheel better.

I will be getting the wheel for this as like MrLatte said, the developres have been raving on about how it was developed around using it.

The Wheel is something i would be interested in, but not yet, i had the official wheel for Gran Turismo 4 a year or 2 back and got along ok with it, but right now i just don't have the room for getting a wheel setup going :(

Really looking forward to all aspects of the game though :D

I'll be happy to play it with the pad, the cost of the wheel isn't justified for one game and IMO I would have more fun playing with a pad anyway.

Iv allways preferd using a pad over a wheel on any racer.

A wheel just never feels right to me, i guess iv been driving a propar car to long.

I've been agonizing over whether to buy a steering wheel for ages now, I just think I'll pop down town and pick one up and then I read your post and I'm having doubts again now, have you tried the 360 one ?

If you're having doubt, my hunch would be, hope a friend buys one, and try his.

As much as the wheel might give a more "realistic" feel, i've always felt happy with the pad in games such as PGR3, TDU, and the NFS games (Although the latter is hardly anything like a sim!)

I think the pad will be just fine mate, but i hope those who go with the wheel really enjoy it :D

No mate, not for the 360 but iv had a few for the GT games on PS2 and for Forza on the 1st Xbox but i still prefer the pad.

I will defo try a wheel out for this if i see a demo pod anywhere which may change my mind.

The wheel is good, but i seriously can't wait to play forza 2 on it though. PGR3 is fun and all but a bit boring, Forza is what i really want it for.
I might need to send it back to MS before the demo though, it seems it doesn't want to line up straight, which AFAIK is a common issue :(

Well I'll be sitting in my computer chair with the wheel in roughly the correct driving position but the pedals will obviously not be in the right place. Also the wheel would obstruct a small amout of the view on the screen as the sheel would be clamped about a foot away from the screen.

Ive researched on several forums about the wheel looking and coming across many people opinions. Will go over some of the things i came across...

The biggest problem is because as yet Forza 2 is the first game to really use the wheel from its design the wheel itself is still that of an unknown quanity.
Personally for me the FFB in PGR3 felt very light i dont know if this is improved any in the NFS updated patch. As an example the Microsoft Sidewinder Wheel felt a lot more powerfull.

At this point can i ask if this also concerns others is their any specs of the motors within the manual for the wheel to compare the specs of the X360 wheel to other wheels on the market?
Comments from users i gathered.
I think the wheel requires about 5-10 hours to adapt if your a regular pad player. Once you get used to it the word is that its more comfortable particulary on longer races and of course its more involving, satisfiying to use if that is you can drive well with it.
PGR 3 doesnt allow any calibration so its very hard to achieve times as good as your very best pad times (assuming your an experienced player) The problem with PGR3 aparently is the dodgy brakes with the slightest touch on the pedal slowing you down too much.

Well look on the bright side guys the demo supports the wheel and within a week all the questions will be answered.

Kreee as for positioning i suppose it trial and error.
For me i know comfort will be a major factor to my concentration.

Im going to do a full review on the wheel/seat and comparison to the pad, it will be indepth and im sure though that every other owner is asking themselves the same question. Wheel or Pad?

Turn 10 know that they cant either way have pad Vs wheel users having a major advantage. Why develop for a wheel that costs quite a lot of money only to then have your game designed to make the wheel user slower. At the same time to be seen to give gamers an advantage who purchase the wheel wouldnt go down well.

Advantages of a Pad
A pad has one major advantage that is it allows instant lock-lock from the thumbstick. Try turning a wheel anything close to lock-lock and it will be a lot slower. Its therefore much easier to catch the back end or drift with a controller. This makes it easier to drive on the ragged limit.

Im assuming the devs have been aware of this so to compensate this additional time it takes to correct the wheel, perhaps but i estimate with the FFB in the wheel you perhaps sense the backend is going a bit earlier in the wheel than on a pad. The earlier sensation perhaps makes up the difference in the time it takes to correct.

Wheel Advantages
Assuming the physics and wheel FFB/Rumble implementation is well done then a wheel can benifit from much smoother steering. Once accusmtomed to a wheel a good player should be able to utilise the braking point and levels with more accuracy. With this added control flexibility a good wheel user should be able to drive smoother perhaps faster but its a different style requirement to the pad gameplay.

For me the perfect balance would be to find the wheel incredibly difficult at the start but gradually learning the simulation physics for each car and discovering what the limits are with the favourite cars id be racing with.

Should the wheel be faster but harder to master?
PC sim nuts all drive with wheels and Turn 10 have researched all these games (see the backstage video) so i very much doubt that they will have made a mess of the game for wheel purchasers.

I'll definately be getting the wheel, a sim is not a sim without one IMO.

I do have my reservations though, I have my DFP set up perfectly on my PC. I have the force-feedback setup just right, it feels very natural and realistic.

I just hope I wont find the MS wheel dissapointing in comparison.
