Forza 2 latest Update and Demo Discussion Thread

While we are on the topic of the wheel one thing im sure PGR3 players with the wheel will notice how much harder the game is to play with say a TVR Sagaris in RWD than a 4WD car.

No doubt about it the wheel is going to be harder to use particulary with the extra physics Forza 2 brings...
 
Video Encoding Issue:
Confirmation of framerate

Browsing through the forums i see some people were concerned that the Mugelo Video released last week suffered from some pauses/hiccups on their computers. They questioned if like Moto GP the game ran upto 60Frames but didnt maintain it.

Quite an important factor for concern.

Heres Che's response
"Gameplay is locked at 60fps. Butter smooth.
Replays are at 30fps. Last week's video did have a couple hiccups due to encoding."

I'm getting so excited, that really is gonna look sooooo smooth, I'm worried now that when I go back to Burnout/PGR etc that I won't enjoy them as much due to the lower frame rate, I wonder what PGR4 and other new driving games FPS is gonna be caped at.

Burnout Revenge is 60fps :) And I have heard that PGR4 is going to be 30.

I know this has been said before, but are you plugging the AC Adapter in? I apologise if that's a stupid comment, it's just at first I thought the wheel had poor 'resistance', and felt nothing like my old Sidewinder wheel, but after plugging in the AC Adapter, when it weights up, it's pretty good..

Mind you, like Jumpurs reported, mine doesn't quite centre correctly.. which is a bit annoying..not sure whether to send it back or not..
 
In fairness I hate steering wheels, but I'd consider getting one if I had a 360.

The novice in that 3 screen video was uber-pants using the wheel though, so there is hope ;)

Wheels are good, but I am going to start off with a pad and see how I go. I can imagine online racing being so frantic/competitive that a wheel is going to quickly become very hard work..
 
cant wait for this game, not sure if i'll get a wheel yet though. did fine on forza 1 online with just a pad :)

i think the 1st few weeks will be funny online as there will be loads of people that have only played the likes of PGR3 and TDU and will be useless at this one.

remember when i let a mate have a go of forza he couldnt keep the car on the road and hated it, lol
 
Not much point commenting more on the wheel untill the demo arrives.
It would be nice for people that have purchased one for the game to really excell with the wheel, personally i dont think it should be a problem particulary with the smooth framerate.

"Most importantly, it gives you a very good idea about how the game feels -- something that will certainly be amplified by the demo's support of the 360 force feedback wheel"

Has anyone seen the full 24 car list for the demo?

Will I be able to use any of the Japanese cars? Say if I wanted the Civic T R?

Well Europe has loads of Super Cars, Japan has several models that can be tuned to amazing power bands. America has some very exciting to drive if not amazing handling cars with a few decent performance ones.

Whats interesting if online is with so many cars and each one of them tunable a real turkey of a stock car could be tuned to a racing monster.

Che has said in the past dont expect this game to have a Winner Car in each group. Something that PGR3 and many other games have problems with.

One of the reasons Forza 2 should offer great racing is with the new PI rating.
So lets assume im racing someone in a Honda Type R tuned to the nuts and im using a midly tuned Ferrari 360 but essientially this game is making both cars competitive. With this in mind their should be loads of cars that can compete together depending on their tuning and PI rating.

Thats what is going to be demonstrated in the next video...
Two competely different cars with differnt handling/performance attributes but matching in a very similar performance PI rating.

Performance matching in a game like PGR 3 was very limited as certain cars would just destroy the others. Forza 2 will have Porsche, Ferrarri, Lambo all with the tunning allowing your favourite cars to shake it up with other peoples favorite cars.

Thats a big deal for me and i cant wait to see some of the really mixed races...

Just comparing some performance specs and why is it that one of my favourite supercars the Porsche 959 which is now 20 years old offers practically the same perfromance in 0-60 and the quarter mile to the 2007 Porsche 911 GT3. What a 20 year old Porsche competing with a brand new model, cant wait to get my 959 in the game and add a nice paint scheme:)

Please lets not speculate anything, dirtydog is great for his speculations or what hes reportably heard. Lets base this thread on facts we know about the game and stop it from turning into a mess of arguing over framerate or AA issues or anything else.

I agree their is loads of cars not in the game but should we complain about those or be glad for the ones that are in the game. Like i tried to put across with the tunning it really means you have more than 300+ cars in the game because of so many tuning options.
