Hi Folks,

Ive had this case for a month or so now and tried buying some off the shelf filters but they were too thick for the front fans. Anyone found any that fit? Or a good DIY mod that looks ok?

Thanks.

Cover the fans with a pair of your mum's old tights.

i went into asda and bought some, silky smooth, black, not too thick, not too thin....im scared.....but the chick at the till gave me a funny look, then when i said there for my PC...well....

Try them on to make sure the weave is fine enough to act as a dust filter. Post pics here so I can double check.

1)would you? answer NO
2)why would i want to try on chicks clothes, there super small, and im 16stone demon
3)there cut up inot pieces so cant, check the 'Antec 900 SE' thread in cases ;)

I thought about using a pair of my GF's tights, but thought they may not be very good due to being so fine( i.e. restricting air flow). Most filter material is 3 times thicker with much bigger holes. Do tights let enough air through?

If you can get hold of them the 1200 drive cages fit the 900, they come with built in dust filters and fan control on the front.

Are the 1200 cages available to buy then? If so that would be the easiest solution, although i should imagine not the cheapest. May try the tights first and see how effective they are.

The filters i bought were Akasa, but a different design to those. They are 9mm in thickness and stand no chance of going in without major surgery. Dont really want to start cutting up the new case just yet. How thick are those Akasa and how did you get them to fit? I still have 1 spare of the pair i bought, used one to filter the side panel as a lot of air gets sucked in there despite having no fan fitted.

Not sure how intake fans mount on to the 900 cages but I can highly recommend Nexus fan filters!

Very well made, and the filters are easily removed for cleaning unlike AC Ryan ones where you have to unscrew them from the fan. These just clip off like a lot of fan filters that come with higher end cases.

Very cheap too, I paid £1.80 for a 120mm one. :)

There was a disturbing rumour about you in high school Aaron. Are you sure your not up to old tricks again?

Like I said in 1 of my other posts............Dust filters are too much of a hassle to clean them cos need to take all the hdds out to get to the filter, na, na, na far too much of a hassle. All you need todo is give your case a blast out every 2 months or so with a blower.. A 5 min job.

Yeah, i see where your coming from not exactly easy access, removing the filter would continue to be a pain. Maybe fit one after the fan? Might be easier to remove, and would just need to blast the fans. Havent had a chance to pull the case apart yet, been to busy working on the pc, will hopefully come up with a reasonable solution.
