Hey,

Just received this cooler today, and the ends of the heatpipes on the base are "open" like a straw. I thought heatpipes were sealed and contained either liquid or powder inside. Does this cooler have faulty heatpipes? Here's a picture:

So are these heatpipes faulty, and do I need to return the cooler?

Cheers,

Suman

Erm, they look broken to me. Heatpipes are a sealed system containing a liquid.

Fill the pipes with soft peanut butter and crimp the ends with some pliers... job done!

( this may or may not work.... )

Looks likes someone has attacked it with a hack saw!!
Send it back and ask for a replacement.

Does look like it doesn't it? Tried doing a google but there are no pics of the heatsink from that angle that I could find.

These are clearly different.

Hey,

They have definitely not been chopped off (not by me anyway :p). They are actually U-shaped if you can see on the first heatpipe on the left - as if they had not been formed properly at manufacture. It was not from OcUK; they don't sell this item. Definitely a new heatsink though, as the packaging was sealed.

Cheers,

Suman

Get over yourself, QC can slip from time to time, just send it abck and get on wiht it.

He's right though, that is unacceptable. For a product to have been shipped out like that is pretty bad, if we sent a product out like that we'd be sending out replacements plus compensatory items.

OMG dude thats crap...send it back and get your money back+shipping costs.

Any chance of a pic

Sure, here is the replacement:
