"Open " heatpipes on Silverstone NT06 Lite...

Looks bad but has no effect on temps as far as i can see.

My NT-06 is just like that. The pipes are sealed with solder it's just that the latter portion of the crimped ends isn't tidily encased in solder.

Has my e7200 (stock speed) running at under 40c 100% load in OCCT.

Seems to perform similarly to my old higher level coolers - ultra 120 extreme, si128, scythe ninja and big typhoon.

I've just had an email from the retailer, and they can confirm that it is indeed a faulty batch (they are removing the stock from their shelves).

gt_junkie, you think I should give it a go and see what happens? I could also RMA this for a newer NT06-E which has 5 x 6mm heatpipes (as opposed to 3 x 8mm), but it is lighter so I thought the build quality might be worse (hence going for this model in the first place!)...

Cheers,

Suman

Not sure TBH.

I just threw mine on when i got it (bought 2nd hand on the MM so didn't really care too much) and it worked perfectly.

If you look closely down the crimped ends to check if it's sealed and find that it is then i'd probably just give it a bash.

It's very difficult to see whether or not the ends are sealed, but they appear U-shaped quite far into the base of the heatsink... as for filling it with water, I dunno how practical that would be :p

Hmm.... this looks alittle similar with my Tuniq :( Here are a couple of pics...

Should i have returned this then? Bought it a few months ago now, so i guess no chance of getting a replacement now? :(

Considering its half of the heat pipes, i guess it will have an impact to some degree. Only one looks like it may not be sealed, but hard to tell even with a tourch. Am i right in thinking im just going to have to live with it, or would it be worth contacting OC's?

Dont know if its effecting temps, but idle is usually 30, 28, 26, 30 degrees on the cores. Theres always a difference of 2-4 degree between cores 1,2 and 0,3, (idle or load), could this be down to the cooler? Been wanting to get them to even out and was planning to lap them, but now wondering if this is the cause.

Yeah, ive been told that, and im not disputing it really. Just seen that others have all 4 cores are the same temp, so its not impossible for it to need lapping etc to even them out. Make any sense or seem feasable? Was thinking of lapping just to help cooling in general.

There's so much that can effect temps its not worth worrying about. It could be the heatsink contact, it could be the IHS contact, it could be the fact that even at idle some cores are doing more work than others etc.
