Here is the first picture of a working prototype of the AMD Radeon HD 6000 series "Cayman" graphics card. This particular card is reportedly the "XT" variant, or what will go on to be the HD 6x70, which is the top single-GPU SKU based on AMD's next-generation "Cayman" performance GPU. The picture reveals a card that appears to be roughly the size of a Radeon HD 5870, with a slightly more complex-looking cooler. The PCB is red in color, and the display output is slightly different compared to the Radeon HD 5800 series: there are two DVI, one HDMI, and two mini-DisplayPort connectors. The specifications of the GPU remain largely unknown, except it's being reported that the GPU is built on the TSMC 40 nm process. The refreshed Radeon HD 6000 series GPU lineup, coupled with next-generation Bulldozer architecture CPUs and Fusion APUs are sure to make AMD's lineup for 2011 quite an interesting one.

Two display ports! looks like ATi are looking to shift them cheap DP adaptors they just released.

Meh, any graphics card company worth their salt would have taken the trouble to hand carve the prototypes out of wood.

Interesting that it's still got an ATi sticker on the fan. I don't really like the RED PCBs though.

Not surprising with it being on the same processes as the current ATI generation. Be interesting to see what the TDP is of the 6870 compared to a 5870.

Looks pretty shopped to me, and badly at that.

Why oh why is the gap in the crossfire fingers a bizzare black colour?

Also, given that ATI has been dropped, it *should* say AMD?

Pic could have been from a month a go.

it looks very badly cropped to me and the black in between the crossfire connectors maybe whatever it was rested against.

not saying it's not shopped just looks very badly cropped to me

It's cropped in such a way to hide the rest of the image as there's probably serial numbers and the like visible that could be used to trace the source of the image. It's very common to see such images on pre-release hardware, they all look "dodgy".

I heard all the new ATI (AMD) cards were going to be green in colour to match AMD's green theme.

Well this is a prototype way off an official release, an AMD themed card is still a possibility.

Alternatively the fan isn't parallel to the curcuit board and it's held at an angle slightly towards the front for reasons of airflow.
