The PS3 version of Modern Warfare 2 appears to have been overrun by exploits and hacks - and Infinity Ward has said it can't rectify the problems until Sony addresses PS3's recent security breach.

Gran Turismo 5 Hacking Begins via PS3 Exploit..
As you’ve probably heard by now, the PlayStation 3’s security has been completely cracked, allowing unfettered access to the console’s software, files, and games. Unsurprisingly, GT5 has been an active target for hackers taking advantage of the compromised system. Their first major accomplishment involves a way to easily duplicate game-saves between different PSN accounts (sorry, I won’t be providing any source links for information on how to do this). That’s interesting, but the next step -- manipulating the game data itself -- could have far greater implications . Imagine, for example, the ability to manually set any attribute of any car in your garage (power, weight, etc.) to any value, or swap out engines, transmissions, and other parts. This actually isn’t a new concept to GT -- it’s called “hybriding”, and it’s been going on since the dawn of the series (see GTPlanet’s own “hybrids” forum, which dates back to the beginning of the site in 2001).

n the past, however, hybriding was a mostly a solitary activity -- nobody cared if you had a Daihatsu Midget II with 1500 horsepower. With the advent of online racing in GT5, however, this could enable dishonest players to compete with others using an unfair and hidden advantage.
Once again, hybriding in GT5 has not yet been accomplished, and may not even be possible. However, people are out there trying to do it and may be successful. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds and what, if anything, Sony will be able to do about it.

I was on MW2 the other day on free-for-all. It's quite bad, I'd say about half the games I joined were hacked. Some games you could jump about 200ft in the air so you could clear any building. Some games had someone perched as high as an aeroplane just shooting down at the map and killing everyone. One game had a strange zoomed in FOV. Loads of things. Sometimes on the kill-cam, you could see the hacking menu.

a work mate of mine (around 50 years old) is a big fan of COD games, he says hes been having nothing but trouble in recent months on the PS3, constant hacking in more or less every single game he joins, the whole thing is a shambles to be honest, people hack on the 360 as well but its much much less. glad i got it for my 360 and not PS3 now, sony needs to get it sorted pronto or else its gonna just push more people toward microsoft...!

But Im getting awesome homebrew - arent i?!? I can stick it to the man - Im an ethical something-or-other...

The MW2 hack has been around for ages, and not since the PS3 was 'blown wide open' by the recent shenannigans. People have managed to alter the save game somehow to input the hack - but its nothing 'new', was around before black ops was out

Its far more interesting that IW have commented on hacks on a year-old game only after the security issue. Nice way to cover up their support failings...
