Would you pretend that the prequels never existed and only show her the originals? :o

I love Star Wars and I loved the prequels when I was younger but now, every time I watch them I cringe a little more. The older and wiser I get the more ridiculous the dialogue, accents, acting, gags and characters become! I fear I simply 'love' them because I'm a fan of the franchise and grew up adoring the originals.

She does like soppy love stories and a bit of cheesiness, though. Bit geeky like me. :p

In answer to the original question, yes. Plus I'd try to find non 'remastered' versions of 'A New Hope', 'Empire Strikes Back' and 'Return of the Jedi' particularly because of the way they alomost ruined the latter with the 'digitally enhanced' ending...

Yeah, I'd also leave her in no doubt as to the fact that HAN SHOT FIRST!!!

I'll preface with with I'm not a Star Wars geek, just have a passing interest in the films as I was a kid when they came out at the cinema and we used to play with the original action figures in the school playground! So some of this might be slightly off. I'm sure there are a thousand websites out there with a full list and frame by frame breakdown.

The original trilogy got a cinema re-release for the 20 or 21 year anniversary, so somewhere around 1997 ish. Off the top of my head it did get cocked around with. The audio was remastered into digital surround and some of the effects were cleaned up. A few scenes were changed/added in the original film, I specifically remember a scene with Jabba and Han Solo in the spaceport.

The Ewok CGI rubbish was added to Return of the Jedi in this release as well.

Lucas further messed around with them for a DVD box set released in 2004, with a full digital restoration and yet more changes to tie into the prequals.

Kill George Lucas with fire and pew pew lasers for his molestation of the precious!!

Show her 4,5,6 then warn her about the prequels, if she has taste she will ban you from the bedroom for a month as soon as you remove the dvd of Episode 1 from the player.

The jedi ending with the cgi is horrible - i was literally crying when i first watched that. Lucas is a moron and ruined a emotional and somewhat dark scene with ****ing cgi bs fanfair.

the new trilogies are HORRIBLE, defaintly show here the originals first they have so much more character.

A friend of mine mentioned how he'd never seen Star Wars before, so my other friend said he'd lend him the DVDs.

Later on, I heard the friend that hadn't watched Star Wars before come into our room (shared military training accommodation) and he said "Right done with Episode 1, can I borrow Episode 2 now?".

Never has something made less sense.
