Shift 2 Unleashed - Time Trial Championship Season 2

Welcome to Season 2

Due to the success of the previous NFS Shift Time Trial Comp and Shift 2 Unleashed Time Trial Season 1. As per Shift 1 and 2 TT, each season consists of Ten Time Trial Events with each event lasting 1 week, so total ten weeks. Each event is selected (Car/ Track) by a nominee as per the rule outlined below.

New to this season is a new way of selecting a combo, one user from each event can choose from a random number for car and track (see rule for number limit) to make the combos so random and to make sure not everyone goes for pure power and simple tracks so it makes the choices for each combo more simple for each user.

Rules:

  • Cars are performance limited to what the user who nominated the car (stock or to a certain performance index)
  • Proof of the lap time will be provided in this thread by either screen shot (e.g. Fraps on PC) or camera shot for console users. This means that this tournament is open to all versions of the game on either PC or console.
  • Two Screen shots must be taken (Finishing Positions & Laps) at the end of the session. Lap times will not be included from mid race as these times show illegal lap times where corner cuts may have been taken, also the performance index needs to be shown in one of the screen shots (in the autolog under your time it shows either your performance index or the car you are using by flickering between both of them) but if you have already set a faster time and the current car does not show your time in autolog then the rule does not apply to you.
  • Lap must be set in Time Attack mode.
  • One person from each week can only select combo, it will go in order of the time sheet for each week and I will try keep it so that every user gets to select a combo
  • The numbers to choose from are
    - Cars 1-115
    - Tracks 1-88
  • Remember we're here to have fun with a challenge thrown in for good measure
  • The Juls MOD is allowed. You can get it here

The week format is staying the same so week 1 will end on the 9th July 18:00

So i went with the legendary track Nordschleife to kick of the new season and with such a fast track i went with a fast lightweight car, have fun not hitting the barriers :D

Here's a video to help anyone out

 
I love this track but really struggle with this car, I think it's because i'm crap at setting the car up, so any good base setups would be really helpfull :)

edit* I just tried with this car and it seems a lot less manic than the upgraded one, it was the upgraded one I had tried before with no joy.

p.s. Insane grips I've found from the Radical at about 30PSI on the tyres

To be honest, you should learn the track in a slower car at first and then step it up. The first thing I did after the recent patch was take a mini with an index rating of 5 for a race around the nurburgring, was awsome fun trying to keep as much speed as possible on the corners because it would take so long to build back up.
One of the best gaming experiences I have had in 25+ years of gaming was a couple of weeks ago on the nurburgring.. I had just upgraded my system from a slow athlon x2 to an i5 sandybridge system and the game played soo much better. I took my slightly modded bmw e30 M3 (c class) for a race around the ring, turning the hud off (apart from racing line on track) and using bonnet cam in a night race with no lights on at home and some tunes on with my headphones turned up loud.. was in a world of my own for a while, was propper awsome.
Trust me when I say that this track is worth learning, much more so than a lot of others imo.
Also you can choose to race 3 different sections of it and learn that way, once you start getting the flow on this track it becomes HIGHLY addictive :P
 
I am with chid76 on this, i have never really touched this track before and it took afew days to find the limit on most corners but i am still learning the track more and more, i just hate it when people just give up after afew tries because they can't be assed to give it a proper go.
 
Nice choice mr fantastic love the radical and that track is challengeing to say the least..:D:D shame my time is crap but hay ho

How do we go about showing the PI of the current car on the screenshot when the autolog only shows faster times you may have done on another run in another car?
 
I'm not sure there is a way to be honest. Think there might have to be an element of trust, afterall it's only a bit of fun :)
