Release Date: 08/25/2011
Change Log:

Changes made in version 0002 (m4 can be updated to revision 0009 directly from either revision 0001 or 0002)
Improved throughput performance.
Increase in PCMark Vantage benchmark score, resulting in improved user experience in most operating systems.
Improved write latency for better performance under heavy write workloads.
Faster boot up times.
Improved compatibility with latest chipsets.
Compensation for SATA speed negotiation issues between some SATA-II chipsets and the SATA-III device.
Improvement for intermittent failures in cold boot up related to some specific host systems.

Not my Benchmarks but performance seems to be up a fair bit.

Got one 256GB ordered at the last minute phew! So happy to see this come out as well for £283 im chuffed.

Aint looking foward to flashing though ><

PS do these drives suffer from the crucial stutter? Planning on using it on intel sata6 ports on z68.Am i going to have to run the fix first so i dont hang during ssd update?

heres mine with a mostly full drive.

very nice work from crucial

boot times measured with a stopwatch from pressing the power button to windows desktop.

before - 35s boot time

Do i have to change the sata mode to ide? and is it really worth updating - because i always tell myself "if it isn't broken don't fix it," and updates just always tempt me >.< And i've never updated the firmware of a SSD before :S

Is that a 64gb drive?

correct

I am unsure what this stigma surrounding updating an SSD firmware is all about

updating the firmware is easy

DL the FW and burn the iso to disc

then ensure your sata mode is IDE in the bios [it should be set to AHCI so you will need to change this]

boot from your cd rom

wait for the utility to tell you that your m4 is detected and needs to be updated

type 'yes' by pressing the Y, E and S keys in that order

then press enter

walk to the oven to check if your pizza is done

then come back and see your drive has finished updating.

restart with CTRL+ALT+DEL

enter bios and change SATA mode back to AHCI

then sit back in your chair and say, "woah, that was pretty easy. I dont know what I was making all that fuss about. It took less than 5 minutes of my time and now my drive is 1/5th faster than it was before."

then sit there with a smug grin on your face knowing that your SSD update was really easy and the people who bought an agility 3 are having massive problems.
unlike yourself.

ty sir :)

Just bought a 256gb version, can't wait to get my hands on it nextweek, get it installed and see what all the fuss about ssd's is all about :)

Just seen this thread, thats some FW update from Crucial to improve speeds that much!
Very impressed, the M4 has to be the most reliable SSD at present.

i got my 128gb M4 yesterday and updated it straight to the 009 firmware but iam only getting around 300 mb/s read speeds using my marvell controller on my evga x58 sli3

300 mb/s Sequential reads?, you should be getting minimum 415 mb/s on 0002 firmware in sata3 6GB/s and around the 260 mb/s in Sata 2 3GB/s.

This is what i get with Sata 2 3GB/s msahci

The Marvell controller is horrible, you need a Sandy Bridge setup to get full use out of SATA 3 drives.
