Did anyone ever order any of that?

I rarely buy stuff from the bay, but 80 "grade A" beans for £8 just seems strangely cheap.

Just wondering if anyone had actually bought any and if so, where they any good? :D

I refuse to pay £4.80 for a god-damned single bean in the supermarket! :D

I bought some, it arrived in a vacuum sealed package - I got 20 of them. Not had a chance to use them yet, but they certainly look fine.

If you're referring to "madagascan**vanilla**", then aye, I've bought from them a couple times. Very happy with the pods, not sure what you'd do with 80 though, a little goes quite a way and I only tend to use a third of a pod at a time.

Cool, I think i'll go and place an order! :D

They should last a good few months if I vacuum seal them too! (touch wood)

Bought some to go in our Christmas Chocolate Orange stout we're making. The vanilla pods were a little small, but seem fine. For the price though they're great.

Hmm, will let you know what mine are like when they arrive!

I've ordered 80 and for the price I paid, that would have netted me a massive "2" from my local supermarket lol

I bought them thinking just to see. They arrived vacumn packed, and whilst smaller than the supermarket ones, they were decent. I have made some vanilla ice-cream with them and it was very tasty.

Going to order a few of these, how long will they last vacume packed? can you freeze them or will this destroy them?

MMMMMM.fresh vanilla in your Hot chocky with mallows!

Bought 80 of them, not used yet but also ordered some other spices at the same time and were really good quality. Tumeric was something else and much cheaper than the well known brand!

From what i've read, you shouldn't refrigerate or freeze them. Kept sealed (either vacuum or in a container) they should last around 6-9 months, maybe more!

Apparently you should let them "air" every 2-3 weeks (just take them out of their sealed container for 10 mins or so, then re-seal).

Good to know!

That sounds nice, would 1 pod per cup be enough as I'm tempted to try some.
Assuming you are intending to scrape the seeds out, I'd say that was too much.

A single vanilla pod of average size should flavour a pint of milk or cream with just the right amount of intensity if left to infuse over a gentle heat for a few minutes.

If you want a more intense flavour, add the seeds. Half a pod's worth ought to do a pint of milk or cream.

I would use around a quarter of a pod per cup, this depends on strength though if i had to use more id not be impressed with the pods.

It does taste divine especially when the marsh mallows melt into gloop on the surface and they gulp down with every sip!

Heston uses 6/pint in his vanilla ice cream recipe!

I've just ordered some, thanks for the heads up!
