Not sure if this has been done in previous years. Anyway, I’ve selected a few hardware categories which I hope you agree with. There’s no prizes.. it’s just for fun. If there’s anything you feel I’ve missed then please let me know :)

Post your selections and give reasons as to why you nominated this person and/or the hardware and link to examples where you can.

No Fan boy arguments please

List one nomination in each category.

Stulid.

I only registered a couple of months ago when I needed to build a new PC (i've purchased from OCUK before but not travelled to the forums).

He helped me with my out of date tech understanding, future proofing etc.

Then when I tried my first SLi, helped me get it working.

I know you have said there are no prizes, but this guy should get something, I nearly fell over at his post count.

I got responses quicker than any customer service email response, and if it wasnt for him I would be phoning overclockers for technical help on my items, and maybe would have purchased elsewhere.

Its because of these sort of individuals on the forums that people like myself continue to buy from OCUK.

He should definately get something from OCUK, because its almost like he is an employee (maybe he is!).

Lets put it into perspective, when I used the technical RMA forum, it took 1-2 days for a response, compared to 5 mins on numerous occasions from him.

And no I am in no way affialiated to him, but if I owned a tech company I would headhunt him.

I would've put Big Wayne for Godly Geek, but he seems to have disappeared

Gotta be Stulid for master chef

2500K for best hardware purchase, it's just a wonderful chip: cool, clocks like wild, good clock-for-clock performance, decent price.

Can't really think of a worst hardware, although I have a lessened opinion of OCZ PSUs since mine's untimely death.

I'll have to go back through the build logs when I have some time, there are some great builds but I can only remember recent ones.

Best hardware thread is the troubeshooting sticky. I learnt a fair bit from your guide on PSU trouble shooting Huddy (although in the testing with multi meter section I'd add a bit about testing the PWR_OK line)

Godly Geek - Best HW contributor

5UB
he hasnt contributed to the discussions as much as others, but he is so incredibly helpful in the customer service section that i cant nominate anyone else

Master Chef – Best Hardware advisor

stulid.
as much as i would like to nominate myself, stulid is far better at this sort of thing than i am

X-Factor - Best Hardware of 2011

if its best hardware that i have physically purchased then i would go for my zalman CNPS9900MAX. it turned my 6850RPM tornado of a PC into a gentle breeze, was one of the few coolers that was small enough to fit in my PC and leaves all the RAM slots accessible

if its best hardware available in 2011 then i'd have to go for the silverstone raven 2 in white, because it looks so awesome, and has amazing airflow to boot

Daybreak – The Worst Hardware of 2011

bulldozer.
its worse and costs more than what its supposed to replace, which was well behind the competition already

Golden Globe - Best Hardware Thread of 2011

any of ZZZACs threads :p

Best HW Contributor: Stulid
Best HW Advisor: Stulid
Best HW of 2011: Asus 6950 2GB - Price/performance ratio
Worst HW of 2011: Corsair Voyager 8GB (died, crappy RMA)
Best project log: Waynio's from scratch build, hands down, if this doesn't win I'll cry.
Best HW thread: <tba>

X-Factor - Best Hardware of 2011

AMD Radeon HD6950 2GB - At £200 it offers unbeatable value and the fact many could be unlocked to a full fat 6970 which cost a lot more at the time IMO makes this one of the best video cards in the last 10 years.

Daybreak – The Worst Hardware of 2011

Bulldozer. If AMD's Bulldozer doesn't win this category I would be amazed.

Godly Geek/Best HW contributor = STULID
Master Chef/Best Hardware advisor = STULID
X-Factor/Best Hardware of 2011 = 60GB Agility 3 SSD, Now I can switch my pc off a lot more whereas before it was on 24/7.
Daybreak – The Worst Hardware of 2011 = Epson Stylus SX200 Printer, always blocking printheads.
Golden Globe - Best Hardware Thread of 2011 - The thread that inspired you or learnt from = To many to choose one.

Master Chef – Best Hardware advisor: Stulid
Daybreak – The Worst Hardware of 2011 : bulldozer
X-Factor/Best Hardware of 2011 (TBA)

Purely for the really helpful SSD setup guide, DragonQ. That one post really helped set me on the way to understanding how to setup my Crucial M4.

Master Chef – Best Hardware advisor

Ok, I agree with others this has to be Stulid. Not sure he's as objective as he usually is with his anti-Asus board posts, but overall he really goes above and beyond in replying to spec threads.

Some sort of spec spidey sense going on there allows him to start drafting responses before the OP is up, I swear...

X-Factor - Best Hardware of 2011

Crucial M4 128GB SSD.

Upgraded from an ageing Q6600/4GB system to a nice shiny i2500k/8GB system, and there was much rejoicing. Then dropped my Crucial M4 into the system as my OS drive, and the impact of that dwarfed my system upgrade in all honesty. Was actually worth the money per GB.

Daybreak – The Worst Hardware of 2011

Obviously Bulldozer overall, but I haven't got one so I'm not counting it!

Don't know if this does count, but my Frio E5 portable headphone amp. It doesn't do enough to justify its price, and with the new version of Poweramp for my Galaxy S I don't even need it anyway. £20 or so just down the drain...

Master Mechanic - Best Project log of 2011

Well, it's been going on for a while, but it was updated in March this year, so still counts I guess: Project: Hush!

Golden Globe - Best Hardware Thread of 2011

A few potential ones here, but would go for the Sandybridge Overclocking Info thread. Really helped in getting my head around the new settings for SB CPUs

Here's mine :

Godly Geek - Best HW contributor

RJC - Always there ready to help.

Master Chef – Best Hardware advisor

Stulid - This maybe a runaway winner

X-Factor - Best Hardware of 2011

Although not quite the best SSD on the market, but introducing the Patriot Inferno 120GB was notably a marked improvement on system performance and i'd never go back to a standard HDD for the OS and games.

Daybreak – The Worst Hardware of 2011

Well the bulldozer was a massive disappointment but personally, I bought a Gigibyte GA-A75M to have a play around with. It was a nightmare to get working. An eleventh hour BIOS update just prevented the RTM

Master Mechanic - Best Project log of 2011

joxang legendary project builds but his Corair 600T was both an amazing build and log

Golden Globe - Best Hardware Thread of 2011

Sandybridge Overclocking
Although I've not got one myself, I had the privilege of playing around with a few and this came in very handy.

Looking forward next next as I'm upgrading my entire system and retiring my faithful OC'd Q6600 :)

I can only really comment on Master Chef as I haven't purchased anything more than a laptop HDD so far, but I've been reading the spec me threads with great interest for many many months, and while there are some very capable guys giving great advice, Stulid stands out.

Master Chef = stulid this dude can't be human or something! Hell if I didn't know any better I would swear blind he is actually Mr Data from Star Trek TNG :p

Daybreak - Worst Hardware (aka EPIC FAIL/FACEPALM) = Bulldoser, enough said.

As for the others I have no idea.

Stoner81.

Should be a biggest troll award too.

I dont recall his name but the thread about feeding a kitten to a python and some regular on here trying to condone it was pretty amusing, as people were falling hook line and sinker for it, although the act itself was pretty disturbing.

I haven't been here long, but from what I have seen I would say...

Godly Geek - RJC

I have seen him around a lot to help with most questions.

Master Chef – Stulid

Of course.

Daybreak - Bulldozer

AMD got them hyped up, and I was looking forwards to see what they could offer. Complete ****.

Master Mechanic - Project: Temjin- S

Like I said i haven't been here long and haven't looked at too many threads, but the one that kept me most entertained was this one.
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18302242

Golden Globe - The Overclocking guides

I must say, when I came here I knew how to build a PC just abouts, however I had no idea with OCing and tools etc. Those threads were a great help.

Master Chef – Best Hardware advisor

Has to be Stulid

X-Factor - Best Hardware of 2011

Has to be the 2500k, my first proper computer part that I bought all myself and c'mon, like 90% of the forum has one.

Daybreak – The Worst Hardware of 2011

11000000001010101010101010% The Corsair Headset HS1, terrible sound quality and absolutely 0 bass. Price has now dropped and I feel its a little more appropriate.

Master Mechanic - Best Project log of 2011

"IAMEXTREME" Linky, Id say the pictures sold it more for me though.

Golden Globe - Best Hardware Thread of 2011

The fan LED mod and cable braiding. Id say the cable braiding has affected me most though.

Stulid. He's always willing to give his time to help others.

Can't be anybody other than Stulid. He's consistantly the first poster in spec me threads. Sometimes he responds withing seconds of the thread opening!!

Stulid for best hardware advisor. Easy on, without a doubt. I would go as far as to say I would now ask Stulid's opinion before phoning Overclockers customer services.

Godly geek - Stulid, has helped me out quite a bit :)

Master chef - Same as the above :)

X Factor - GTX 580. With mine at 1ghz on the core, blew everything away.

Daybreak - crossfire. After many nightmares to get it working I gave up.

Best hardware thread - would say my watercoolong sticky, but I'm going to go with the whole of the watercooling forum in general, helped me and many others out :)

Best project log - Stealthlow. Stunning work :)
