Official 7950 Benchmarks Thread

Looks nice. Anand says it trades blows with the 580 but when it wins it wins big. Overclocked it beats the stock 7970 by 2-10%

Word of warning if you are buying one - all the cards are non reference so the variation in the coolers is massive, the top end XFX card ends up being louder than the reference 7970

Yeah im interested in getting hold of the Asus DirctCUII card to see what that is like.

The XFX DD we had does get loud, but we really did push it to go that far, and if you are pushing it and gaming, you generally will have some form of audio from your games.

Ryan from Anandtech forgot to update his XFX card's BIOS with the version that's shipping with retail cards. :( :(
Our results post retail BIOS update:

Basically, XFX emailed all media days before launch stating that their retail cards had revised fan speed profiles that allowed for slightly increased temperatures but kept the fans MUCH quieter. They sent us all a the retail BIOS file with the proper speeds. What you see above are the differences between the beta and the final release BIOS. :)

GTX580 performance for GTX580 prices. Well done AMD!

I think that the least we should expect from a new generation grapgics card is either "better performance for the same price", or a "better price for the same performance". Until now, successive generations of graphics cards have proviided a >40% performance boost for roughly the same money.

So the temps are going to be way higher than the reference cooler... great job XFX, obviously not saving every penny on the cooler at all......

At lower power consumption with masses of overclocking potential while being quieter and performance thats only going to improve with time.

price to high especially when you see what res they are aimed at 1920x1080

also in some very popular games they arnt as fast in dx9 . some will argue why would you play in that though :p

but a 150 quid ontop for basically what a 200 quid overclocked can match isnt great value. can see these dropping to 300 very quick.

power levels look good but how many will buy a graphics card swayed on power usage ?

580 is obsolete to all but the most hardened fanboys, at its current price it makes no sense to buy one with the 7950 doing the rounds, so I would expect a 580 drop soon.
