Just ran a few tests and got the following on my Gigabyte EP45-DS3P motherboard. ACHI mode

Does all this look normal?

Machine certainly seems a lot faster. Bootracer shows total time to desktop is 18 seconds (12 seconds time to logon, 6 seconds from logon to desktop)

odd i get fair bit faster speed on s p35 chipset board, i dont think your running ahci mode or your not running the latest intel ahci drivers. (if your running ahci i doubt your even using intel drivers#)

I turned AHCI on in bios and also turned on 'SATA Port 0-3 Native mode' When it was disabled there was a few random stalls and I had to close Office 2010 from task manager, then it would not uninstall. Also my Xonar Essence soundcard drivers stalled and i had to reboot.

I formatted and re-installed with Native mode enabled

Can the intel ahci drivers be installed as the current stage i am with my os (everything installed) or do they need installing just after install?

Thanks

Is it one of these 2 from here - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sea...roductProduct=Intel®+Rapid+Storage+Technology

Perhaps you'd be so kind as to explain in which benchmarks you get "a fair bit faster speed".

Not that I'm doubting you...

I installed the 10.8.0.1003 drivers and got pretty much the same.

Just thought id try the AS SSD test on my velociraptor. Its taken over an hour and the score is Read - 11, Write 11. Total score 28! nice

Do you think it would be worth me investing £30 in a SATA3 pci (or pcie?) card?
