Thread to discuss the SKY coverage of F1 in 2012.

2012 Coverage

Sky Sports F1 HD will get Sky customers closer than ever, with more action, analysis and information - on their TV, online and mobile devices - throughout the season.

This new home of Formula 1 will be the only place to enjoy live coverage of the whole Grand Prix season, including all practice and qualifying sessions and every race in the calendar.

The dedicated channel will be provided at no extra charge to all Sky TV customers who take both Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 or the HD pack of channels. It will be found at 408 in Sky's on-screen guide, after a scheduled move of the Sky Sports channels. Sky Sports viewers without the Sky+ HD pack will receive a standard definition version.

The Sky Sports F1 HD channel launches on the 9th March.

Anyone else read the Martin Brundle interview in F1 Racing this month? Some interesting impressions he's giving from what he did and didn't say...

What did he say/not say? Are the cracks showing in the Sky relationship already?

It was regarding the BBC. You got the impression that he didn't like the way the BBC coverage was going, all the lairy shirts and messing about in the pitlane. Also seems that he didn't have a good relationship with Jake and Eddie. To me at least it sounded like the Sky plans are for a much more 'grown up' F1 coverage and he is really really looking forward to it.

Yeah, the idea behind the whole Jake/Eddie/DC bits was fine, but I can see what MB was hinting at. At times it got a bit cringeworthy.

Something else from that interview, Sky are planning on spending hundreds of millions of pounds on their F1 coverage! I assume that's over the 7 years, but still, that's a huge budget for F1 programming! Wow. And to think, people are suggesting Sky aren't fully committed, or that someone else would be able to buy them out of the contract :p
