*** The SKY F1 2012 Coverage Thread ***

Just turned SSF1HD on to check out the pre launch loop program.

OMG IT'S SO SHINY AND PRETTY!
I just caught the last minute or so of the Fittipaldi interview. Looks like it's being filmed by a kid on an apprenticeship! What's wrong with having a camera on a tripod? It wobbles about all over the shop. Totally unnecessary and adds nothing to the piece.

Hopefully the rest isn't that bad. I've got the whole 1 hour thing set to watch later.

Having seen the 15mins now, it looks promising. I like the idea of the classic season reviews and some team profile/behind the scenes stuff.

Still don't like the wobbly camera for the interview though. Looks amateurish to me.

That's strange. When I bring up either the F1 HD channel or the SD channel it says wrong viewing card, yet all HD channels appropriate to my subscription work fine.

That schedule actually looks really poor to me considering all the hype over this 'dedicated channel'.

Just looking at the Aussie GP. You've got no support races and, most importantly, no full re-run meaning that you've only got one opportunity to catch the full race and that's at daft-o-clock. With all that air time to fill you'd expect the schedule to be full of re-runs and support races.

The number of people watching this who don't have a Sky+ (or Virgin equivalent) is probably so small that it isn't worth bothering with.

And anyway, hardcore fans will be up and watching it live.

The race is repeated twice on the Sunday, and there is no GP2/GP3 that weekend.........

Yes its on Sky Go.

Just seen the new Sky Sports pack advert and its the first time I have heard Sky mention "live and uninterrupted" Formula 1 coverage without tagging "in 2012" on the end. There is hope, fingers crossed.

so i dont have to sit here all day can anyone tell me if williams end up with a full f1 car at the end of this?

lol
No not really.
It goes on for aaaaages doesn't it and oddly not a lot seems to happen in terms of what you can see. One guy seems to spend about a week fiddling about in the access above the peddles and there's a lot of people working on the car but nothing really gets added, visually.

Any problems recording or pausing on a subscription channel like sky 1?

No I don't think so. I paused Eden HD I think the other day and that played fine afterwards. I don't think I've actually watched Sky 1 at all.

All HD channels apart from Movies and Sports work fine.

I've got Entertainment Extra and HD pack on my package so am a little puzzled why Sky F1 is giving me a viewing card error.
