So we have a thread about season 2, I thought I'd create one for Season 3.

Obviously those of us who read the comics know that the women at the end of Season 2 who saves Andrea is Michonne, the Governor has already been cast for Season 3 and it's obvious where Season 3 will be based (The Prison) if they stay close to the comics, the whole of Season 3 will be Prison/Woodbury based.

What are everyone elses predictions? Will Darrel Dixon be forced to choose between the group and his brother?

I have not read the comics but I am not too pleased about it being based at the prison for an entire season.

Kind of reminds me of that terrible resident evil movie where they were held up in a prison.

Believe me if it's as good as the comics it's going to be brilliant

Firstly I haven't read any of the comics but have seen people talk about them and what happens in them on here and other forums.

Going by 2 things, this is what I think:

1. budget has been cut even more and there are 16 episodes now!
2. obviously going to be based in a prison, which I am guessing will be a stronghold like in resident evil afterlife

So people who didn't like season 2 due to

- the farm
- being isolated away from the zombie apocalypse
- not enough action and zombies
- too much talking etc.

Are not going to like season 3 one bit! :p

I reckon it is going to be very character driven and a struggle for "power and leadership" within Rick's own group and clashes between his group and the group at the prison and as you said, people will make decisions as to what side they will be on especially after seasons 2 ending with Rick's emotions and little speech and the group look like they are loosing trust in him and also cause they all want to do the complete opposite to what he says :p

Of course I could be completely wrong! :p

However, after seeing michonne in the last episode, I can't help but feel that they have ruined the show now especially if they keep that part going on, if they just took those 2 zombies with chains on them away, I would have been fine with it :(

I know the reasons for that is to avoid detection by other zombies and allows her to move around them in the comics but considering this tv show is suppose to be more realistic and all that has happened so far and of course general things about a zombie it was just sooooooo stupid! They have also created a ton of plot holes now!!!!!!!!!!

- how can you teach a zombie to not attack or to become "use to the person" Zombies have only one thing in their mind and that is to eat humans!!!!!!

- the zombies in theory should be trying to attack her not just following her like good doggies.....

Among a lot of other things.

With all these budget cuts etc

I hope all the characters/zombies get killed before the show gets killed!

If you watch the Talking Dead, they actuallly discussed Michonne and her "pet" zombies.

They had no arms and no lower jaw/teeth, so they can't really do much but drool on her.

The explaination the director gave was "they realised they couldn't do much about it and just sort of accepted that fact"

Also, in the comics, the Prison is where they spend the most time throughout the entire thing, so in depending on how deep they go into it, they could stretch it out through season 3 and 4.

If people were getting bored with the lack of zombies in season 2, season 3 should have a lot more, I don't want to give too much away other than to say they have to get into the prison first....

Yeah I know that but the point highlighted in bold is my problem, nothing would stop a zombie from at least trying to attack a living person or going for them, they don't think as they are dead, the only part of their brain that is active is the "animal" side in the sense they look/sniff for food, eat/kill. e.g. as shane demonstrated at the farm, no matter where they are shot (apart from the brain) be it the knees, arms, stomach they just keep coming and coming.

And quite frankly the people on the show really don't have a clue what they are doing, just look at their explanation for Lori's reaction to Rick confessing that he killed Shane

OH! Tell me more about this prison thing and how difficult it is going to be for them to get in, spoiler tags if necessary :D

I thought it was just going to be a basic thing like them driving by it and taking a look around for supplies and to see if it is safe and eventually getting ambushed by the other group already there or something similar.

Basically they arrive at the prison which, as you'd expect is infested with zombies, first they clear out the courtyard (possibly episode 1)

Then they open the main doors to the prison and have to clear out the inside (I think that is about 3 comics worth, around 60 pages total)
How much would you like me to spoil?

Sounds good! Quite a bit different to what I thought! :p And YES PLEASE, A BIT MORE! :D

They will probably re-work the stuff around any way like they have so far regarding Shane's death, the timing etc.

so I take it the other group aren't there then? Since the place is crawling with walkers. When does this other group that is being led by the "governor" come in? Is it a bit like the dawn of the dead film (the classic) where they clear the mall out and build a life there and barricade entrances etc. and then the guys on the motorbikes come and trash the place (but in the walking dead, don't trash the place :p, instead they force there way in and stay there or something similar?

@e36Adz

IIRC 6 months.

What could be the purpose of having zombies on chains? i thought it might be to confuse other zombies in to thinking that the person is not human, to hide the scent. 6 months is too long too wait, they should have shorter gaps :/ If they can continue at the same quality or better it will still be a top show.

Yup, it is to "mask" her from the other zombies due to the scent and all.

Is 6 months not actually quite short of a gap?

IIRC True blood and smallville always had/have a year of a gap between each season :(

This and true blood are the only tv shows I watch now.

EDIT:

Have they actually even started shooting yet?! Haven't seen any info about season 3 really. If they haven't then 6 months for 16 episodes is a very short time for them to get a good quality season shot unless they are just going to follow the comics to the dot this time but still not an awful lot of time :/

EDIT 2:

Just found this:

Not really any major spoilers about season 3.

DO NOT CLICK IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE COMICS, CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE NEXT SEASON

Basically, this is what happens in the comics and most of which, will be adapted into season 3/4

They arrive at the prison, clear the outside, open the main door, begin to clear the inside, the riot room, cells etc... then they get to the canteen, it's locked and seemingly no way in, they eventually pry the door open (this is where one of the comics ends)

The next comic starts with them opening the door to find......4 prisoners sat eating in the canteen as if no zombies even existed.

They talk with the prisoners who explain that when the prison became infected they were all working in the prison canteen, they had plenty of food (considering its a prison they would have had enough to feed the entire prison for a while) so they thought it best to lock themselves in there, since it's fairly secure, and just left the guards and rest of the prisoners to die.

They agree to help Rick & Co empty out the rest of the prison so they can all live there safely and securely (obviously since this is The Walking Dead that doesn't happen).

On a routine scouting trip for food, they see the helicopter (shown at the end of season 2) but the helicopter crashes, Rick, Glen and a few others decide to go and investigate, find the helicopter, but no bodies, they (probably with the help of Daryl in the TV show) track the foot prints to a town called Woodbury (this is where the Governor comes in, he runs Woodbury, keeps the residents safe etc..

Rick meets the Governor and attempts to build relations (and fails) turns out the Governor is bat crap crazy and makes Michonne find a guy in a brutal death match surrounded by walkers. Michonne, being the bad ass that she is, kills some dude and the walkers, finishing the brutal game.

The Governor, displeased with this, takes Michonne prisoner and repeatedly rapes her (interested how they're going to do this on TV) Michonne escapes and cuts the Gov to shreds, but he lives.

Rick & Co escape Woodbury with the help of someone (who later turns on them) and go back to warn everyone else about the Gov and Woodbury)..

That is pretty much how I see season 3, based on the comics

Have they stopped writting the comics? I've read all 94 issues and if 94 is the final issue then I'm disappointed

You left out one of the most important things about the arc..

The governor cuts Ricks hand off

But I honestly cant see them using that in the series.

How is that important? I highly doubt they'll even bother with that part how is it even significant
