Hi all

This is comeing from other threads, decided it may be better to use a new thread to talk about it.

My readings show 3.65Gb used in BF3 @ 2560x1600 with All ultra and 8xAA, 16x AF
I use 2x 6950's Unlocked.
I use Afterburner to show me my Mem use readings.

How does it work it out? is it indeed 3.65Gb or is it actaully half that due to the whole shared Vram when in sli/X-fire.
Edit: We now know that what ever Afterburner shows when in crossfire is actually double what it truely is! who knew eh!? ( the people who told me i suppose lol )

What amount of VRAM do you use?

discuss :D

Will keep an eye on this thread as I have a couple of 6970's on the way. What fps are you getting with that res and settings?

With all Ultra and 8x aa (set in CCC) i see around 55-60fps in metro map.

I tend to reduce it to 4xAA though, gives about 75fps

I don't think we need to discuss as we know the answer and now you will.

2+2 = 2 :D

Yes I know it goes against everything you have learned in school but just accept it. Whatever it says in afterburner regarding vram memory usage when you have xfire cards - half it.

yep i know it.

Added it to the first post

Do you get any signs of microstutter at all?

Yes i have noticed it.

Running at 50+ its not so noticable, but drop below 45, 40 fps and its as if i was playing Bf3 at 18fps. unplayable.

Ok cheers! I'll see what it's like on my 24" monitor at 1920x1200 res and pass judgement from there.

I was amazed when you said you was using 3.7GB of VRAM...I was expecting you to say you had 6 screens all running at 2560x1200 :D

Also as a note, Vram usage is shown as close to your limit but it is storing data in there that is not required, so when you start to hit a lot going on, it will ditch the stored data for the new data.

Off the top of my head, I was using 1.8GB of vram max on caspian border. I turned off aero restarted the game and again it went up to 1.8GB...I can't remember how much aero uses but think it is over 200mb.

Handy for low vram cards.

Might be ok for you, But seeing as i have just my single eye to rely on its abit hyper reactive to everything :/ any stutter or any slight jitter annoys the hell out of me.

GTX 560ti, 1440x900 res. (99% gpu utilisation, why not 100%?)
BF3 all settings as high as they go, i get an almost solid 60 fps (v-sync on) and use 1007 Mb in total.
Which is quite worrying really, as im not using a very high res monitor :(
oh, and I use afterburner for the above.

For RAM, im using ~5.2GB with only iTunes open.
(The scene was the opening one, in the car park)
