hello,

symptoms...

pc will run and do anything its supposed to, then for no reason, at no particular interval, and not when your dong anything in particular, it dies, i dont mean shuts down, i mean like someone had pulled the power out, then it restarts, goes to the windows did not shut down etc start windows in safe mode or normal or whatever

some times it does it while doing nothing, ideling on the desktop, sometimes if your watching a vid and or on the net. sometimes i can be stressing it in solidworks or in prime 95, it also does it in safe mode, and it does it with any combination of ram in differant slots

when i first built it i had a dodgy ram stick so i sent the kit back to scan and started again

i ran mem test on this set of sticks for hours and they seem fine

after loooots of faffing and trying different things it was suggested to me to try my computer with out a graphics card

and sure enough, with on board graphics it works fine, stressed and run for 48 hours no problems

i then tried with a friends graphics card that we know works, and it does the same thing

sometimes it will work for an hour and a half, sometimes it will work for less then a min, 5 times in a row then work for another hour again

system is

ga-z77x-ud5h running f8 bios
i7 3770k never been clocked
stock cooler
16gig corsair vengance 1600
corsair enthusiast 750w psu
120 gig kingston ssd
2tb seagate baracuder

my graphis card is a quadro 4000
my mates one, gf 7600gt 256 meg nvidia

im stumped... i got the uptodate stable driver suggested by solidworks for the quadro, the 7600 i just stuck in without doing anything

and im supposed to be going away soon and taking this thing with me

the only things i can think of are some kinda crazy driver problem, but then why would it do it with the other card, or that my motherboard or psu has some serious problem with it

penny for your thoughts

Plug the video card in a different Pci Ex slot
Power should not be a problem
Gt 7600 has 60-70W power draw
So windows problem(drivers) or motherboard
If you have another HDD install a trial version of windows and see what happens

yes it has on board graphics which work fine, i can get in the bios

tried it in all 3 pcie slots, same thing

not tried reinstalling windows yet but i guess thats the next step unless anyone can think of anything else

really, i would normally avoid the beta ones till they have been tested, there buggy

i might go to 14, but i dout its that, its not like its a new card, they have been out for ages

plus it does it with the other card as well that isnt a quadro

confused :(

and my ram is set to correct voltage

Betas are safe to use, could go latest final if you want, try with only 8gb of ram see if crashing stops, you might need more dram and qpi/vtt with 16gb around 1.08-1.1v qpi/vtt

i tried it with 8 gig, i tried it with 4 gig, made no difference :(

ill flash to the latest final tomorrow, i doubt its the ram, nothing is clocked yet,

and if im honist i dont know what qpi/vtt stands for and hence means, and while i could find it on the bios i dont really like screwing with stuff before i understand it lol

That's for the integrated memory controller inside the CPU,stock is 1.05v with 16gb you might need between 1.08-1.1v the gpu will push/stress the CPU and memory more than memtest

Oh and another thing to try is the CPU voltage response set it to fast

i want to punch my computer to death... in the face

well... because **** are ******s,

they said dont bother posting any rma's till the 3rd jan cos there is no one here

and then the backlog will be 3 weeks after that, and no you cant have a refund even if you buy a new mobo right now

so i bought a new one from someone else instead cos i cant wait that long

and to my shame, it does the exact same thing

hence, im about to reinstall all my motherboard drivers, go to f14 on the bios then reinstall windows

not a happy bunny

you know that didnt even occur to me to be honist lol

and im assuming liklyhood of them both being faulty in the same way is to astronomical to be entertained

so im now left with 2x something i cant figure out how to fix

i could swap the new one for another board entirely, sabertooth or p... whatever delux

after spending a good amount time googleing all i have found is page after page of people complaining about this board and its crashy tendancys

which is anoying, cos as far as i can tell once its working its great :(

well

wanting to do a one thing at a time, i updated the bios to f14 and then ran with no gpu

i though this was a waist of time having already tried 2 bios variants, but for the sake of it, its only quick..

it powered down twice while trying to reboot, at this point this is me, "*Fully star out swearing!* iv made it worse"

but... annoyingly, it was doing some windows update thing at the same time, which i forgot about, could have been that

it then run for about 3 hours ideling, on the net, playing vids, and opening the biggest solidworks file i have

about to reinstall windows but, in the fairness of testing i put my gpu back in

its now been almost 2 hours... no crashing

could i be so lucky (/stupid) that bios f4 and f8 both were buggy with gpus for some reason.... i haven't tried it with the other graphics card yet, but if she manages to stay on all night tonight.... i might have hit paydirt
