my computer dies if you put a graphics card in it.....

i have a spare, but it hasn't got the right connector for the motherboard, i could just buy one but its getting silly now

and no, dont know many people who do this kinda thing, im normally the one with the spare bits for other people lol

The only other thing I can suggest at the moment, is maybe try another kettle lead and a different wall socket.
What are your Cpu temps , maybe monitor the temps.

well it just crashed having been on for less then 1 min :(

i might go out to some kinda ****y shop in ealing and try and buy a power supply, im in a rush lol, cpu tems are fine, an hour of prime and it hit 69 degrees, all on the stock cooler, core temp is showing 28 max 32 right now, and my gpu sits at about 50, which is normal for a quadro

Was this a new build ?, when you built it did you do a clean install of Windows or are you trying to use an old install of windows from another computer ?

all new, components and install

Ps, it has also taking a liking to freee, with the most awfull noise coming out of my headphones that is like the ast half second of the biffy clyro song it was playing repeating at high speed

Its still going, I'm typing this on my phone

Id agree with a possible PSU related issue especially if it cuts out like that, if it was due to an unstable system 9/10 OS detects this and reboots as youd normally expect.

well....

maplins now has 90... yes 90 bloody quid of my money, and i have a 750w xfx pro some crap thing... it was that or a 450w cit.. or a 1000w modular that cost 130 assing pounds lol

its been on for 10 mins, we shall see

As pastymuncher mentions the XFX is a excellent PSU! (the Corsair is good as well)

One thing that has crossed my mind could the motherboard be shorting on the case!, one thing to try is run the system external to the case.

^I would do this next. Take it all apart and place the mobo on a piece of cardboard or similar and build it up outside the case.

Have you checked the CPU/GPU temps at all? Maybe try the graphics card in the other slot to rule out a dodgy slot being the cause.

its held on with 9 screws on the back plate thing, all with spacer block things

this case is about 15 years old but i don think its shorting, would that make it crash only when there was a graphics card inserted?

ill give it a go anyway
