Wasn't trying to derail the thread guys, don't get so serious. Just casually mentioning it reminded me when I used to play Crysis 3 on single Titan. Was an awesome card. it it wasn't so damn expensive I would have kept it..

Remember the first time I used a 7970 as well, that is still a beast. Imagine the cards that we'll be using next year. GTX 880 and HD 9970, crazy performance..

Nice benchy's.

Interested in the BF3 performance, is this a fair reflection of MP performance? Or does the added complexitiy of MP decrease framerate?

I use the same settings for online and its a smooth performance. If you want to avoid dips below 60 you need to put Effects quality to HIGH and or put AA to x2. Putting Ambient Occlusion down to SSAO can help as well as HBAO eats up a good few fps.

MP is more demanding but my average frame rate still stays high and smooth at these clocks. However the biggest explosions will cause dips below 60 unless you use my settings above.

No probs and I was sick of seeing those bloody 3D rectangles :D

I've been making do with those for a while now. :D

mp big battles 64 man on bf3 will drop to 40-45 guaranteed.

If you want to avoid dips below 60 you need to put Effects quality to HIGH and or put AA to x2. (1440p)

Its shocking how much headroom was left in the card which recent drivers have discovered. One of the best purchases of my PC buying time. Hoping the 9970 can give me so much bang 4 buck

Its less about headroom, a card can be working at 100% before and after, but give a better fps later on simply because as dev's get better at optimising for an architecture, both game and AMD, they will get more efficiency from it.

In general this is natural, and will happen on old architectures as well, coding evolves, people get better at it, new techniques come up, new methods of doing things, and people get better at using them more efficiently over time. In any profession or industry, practice makes perfect(well better).

If we'd stayed on 5870's, quite a few of the recent improvements would still have happened.
