This is of great interest as there hasn't been a decent PC golf game for some years (it also appears to be coming out on the new-gen consoles). However despite the mooted Spring release I can't see it listed anywhere yet for pre-order. Does anyone have any more intel on what's happening with the title?

Thank you for the heads up.

I am still bitter about E.A and the way they handled TW Online.

They invested in a huge beta for it, made a half decent golf game out of it, then nerfed it, then shut it down.

Well, the current beta application specifys the following:

Control: XBOX-style controller with analog sticks is required at this stage.

I hope that means Mouse support has been nailed and they are specifically testing gamepad support and not just tacking mouse controls in over the next month or so.

Its a web based golf game, u could call it a golf mmo. It plays a bit like TWO did but in my opinion a lot better. There are around 12 courses to play on, various different golf formats and you play against other players via lobbies. You start as an amateur and make your way to Tour Legend. In each of those categories you can enter tournaments to win coin. With that coin you buy all your equipment. I've been playing for years, I've actually won thousands of coin, which isn't real money, but they do have real money tournaments from time to time. I did actually win one and got a £250 Amazon voucher. Many people sell their credits on ebay also ;)

Check it out, make a profile. It's free to play, If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll hop in a game or two with you and talk you through tips, help, strategies etc. My WGT name is TonyTurbo78

Only problem being that it's a bit crap. Static images of the holes like Links 2003. Yes, like a game that is 11 years old.

Regarding the Golf Club Game, it's the same dev's who were doing stuff for EA and the Tiger Woods series. Except from now on they are not under the spell of EA as they are no longer working for them since EA decided to postpone their golf game for a year. :D

They are having a closed beta at the moment, with an open beta coming over the next few weeks.

If you look on their forum, they are taking feedback and ideas from the public, and they have said they will continue to add new features and improve the game after release. So, pretty much on release the game will be a 'work in progress' but the potential is there.

The game won't use a two or three click button system and at the moment they are saying they are not sure yet if they will add mouse support to control the swing.

The course creator looks cool and it will be available on steam :)

There is no power gauge, it's all about feel and tempo of using the analogue stick to determine the power of shot.

I'd rather use the mouse though as in theory it's more accurate moving it back and forth than an analogue stick. :p

Couldn't care less about the 2 or 3 three click system ... that was only useful for pre 2000 ...

An example of the course creator. There won't be any official courses included, but with the course creator you could create any course, including your local courses.

I will keep an eye on this, a good golf game can keep me entertained for ages.

My favourite was always everybody's golf ps3. Despite the cartoon characters/setting there was an excellent and skillful game to be had behind it.

Quite happy for it to be controlled with a gamepad. Imagine I'll mostly be playing it with some mates round and a few beers anyway. Ideal.

Shame the animations are so wooden.

It's also missing the little things that made the Tiger Woods games entertaining, e.g. commentary from Jim Nantz/David Feherty.
