What replacement card - RMA still pending!

So my reference card went for RMA about 35 days ago and I’m still waiting to hear back. OcUK have kindly offered to send me an alternative card, but I’m not sure what to go for.

I’ve requested if they have any reference cards left as my Micro ATX prefers this setup & the case mod to my S2 makes it a very sound choice – my ref was very quiet indeed :)

If there are no reference cards available, what should my options be?

Looking at your build you could have the two fans on the bottom of the case as exhausts, removing any hot air given off by a non-ref cooler?

To fit in with red+black theme you'd have to go either for another power-colour, or an asus or MSI card if you're sticking with AMD.

Could be really cheeky and ask for a matrix 290x :D

Just out of curiosity, what was the brand of card you returned?

It was a Powercolour Reference 290. Superb card which for me was perfect, but sadly it died :(

I've gone for the MSI 290, not sure if this was a good move or not but I guess I'll find out!
Well well well, it looks like OcUK are not sticking with their policy when it comes to Powercolor - over 35 days without it being sorted? It's supposed to be 48-72 hours turn-around according to this...

Its being a long time since Overclockers UK sold Powercolor and some of you more keener lot noticed we had started selling them again before Christmas and this is why:-

  • 2yr Advanced Warranty: OcUK 48-72hr turn-around which OcUK deal with
  • Removal of cooler won't invalidate warranty
  • New Black PCB / Cooler designs in mostly black/red colours
  • Exclusive on Devil Range to OcUK
  • LCS Range also available

In short you can now buy Powercolor with confidence in the UK with no RMA issues and the added benefit of cooler removal, bear in mind these terms are only with OcUK.

MSI 290 is a decent card (I've had 2 of their 290xs), does well if you have fresh air blowing on it which you do!

Also has a backplate which looks pretty swish :)

I know mate, I've mentioned this also and told if its not DOA, it could be 28 days

That's what I'm hoping for!

Terrible, I bet people are buying Powercolor cards thinking they have this premium RMA service through OcUK only to be trumped by having to wait over 28 days anyway, no small print there.

Woudn't touch Powercolor with a barge pole now. They are as bad as Asus.

Unfortunately most of the phone monkeys at ocuk dont bother keeping up to date on specific product warranties, you have to post in the customer service section on the forum to get 5ub or someone to give them a kick up the bum

Haha, you're right there! I bet people on these forums are more fully aware regarding the OcUK returns policies than Fred and Bert in the RMA wendy house.

I used to have to deal with RMA's for over 750,000 products in the Electrical side of things Industrial / Domestic, that's without taking into consideration the full product listings on the Mechanical side of things.

Post in the CS to Bailey or 5UB and I am sure they will sort this out.

All my CS dealings have been via the CS section on the Forum, I avoid callnig them unless I really have to.

I've been dealing with Bailey over this and he advised me the RMA could be 28 days if its not DOA :/ not sure whcih is better, but it looks like the original buyer has been refunded as the RMA has been over 38 days - makes me getting my money back that much harder! :(

Hello there

I was about to replace it with an alternative card due to the delay with this RMA, however when I checked the RMA it was refunded.

I can see that as the item was not completed within the 28 day turn around a refund was actioned on the system.

Obviously as this was a Members Market purchase the original purchaser has been refunded unfortunately. We cant actually refund an alternative card for fraud, only unless the card has expired :(

However I will check with our finance team to see if this can actually be un refunded.

Hopefully they will be able to and then I can just swap an alternative replacement for you.

Thanks

Bailey
