I like watching most sports on TV and look forward to Wimbledon single matches.

One thing which really annoys me is towards the end of a match, especially towards the end of the tournament, is the continual flicking between the player and someone known to the player ie, coach, mother, sister, rabbi, physic guru, psychiatrist, prodigal son, etc etc. It certainly doesn’t make the match any more exciting to me.

Another thing is the continual presence of Virginia (very posh) Wade lording it in an esoteric manner as if she’s the fountain of all knowledge and still playing at the highest level. For goodness sake she last won Wimbledon in 1977.

Agreed. It also annoys me the amount of times I flick over to the tennis and the score isn't up, why!?

Shall we turn our hate into the official Wimbledon thread :)? There's never any love for Wimbledon on OcUK :(

Murray's possible route into the final, easy peasy! If he can get through this lot (even if Nadal or Federer aren't firing at 100%, they should still present tough opponents) and win it, I think that could be the next gear up he needs to win a couple more.

Round 1 - Mikhail Kukushkin
Round 2 - Robin Haase
Round 3 - Andreas Seppi
Round 4 - Jo-Wilfried Tsonga
Quarter-final - Rafael Nadal
Semi-final - Roger Federer
Final - Novak Djokovic

I think Michael Bay could make an awesome Wimbledon trailer. Imagine it; stars and celebs arriving with slow motion low pan shots of them getting out of a car, super slow motion cross court forehands, slow motion grass/chalk disturbance, explosions for smashes and some semi naked women and casual racism to boot! :D:p:o*

*I have been watching too much Screen Junkies/Cinema Sins

I've edited the title so we can keep the general tournament discussion in here as well as just the annoyances. It is a bit daft that there's so much fuss made of the coaching team, if I wanted to watch a group of vaguely animated people that I know little about I'd just tune in to Big Brother instead.

I bloody love Daniela Hantuchova. She's been near the top of my list for about 12 years - it's good to still see her on court. She's lovely.

Losing to our own Heather Watson currently.

Indeed she lost to our own Heather Watson but it looks like next up for her will be Serena so it'll have to be the performance of her life to get beyond the third round.

Yes well played Heather. She has announced that she has had death threats on social media. Unbelievable and really cruel to a young lady who has everything to live for.

Me and the wife think Heather's a lovely girl and it's a pity that such trolls don't get off their backsides and do something in life for which the rest of the country could be proud of. Heather has already made many people proud. I'm proud of her.

What's our population in GBR about 60 million? Around half of them are women and she's the best in her chosen field and people can threaten her life?

It's not about whether she's nice or successful, or otherwise - it's simply that she's a high (ish) profile "celebrity". Particularly that she's a female one. They all get that sort of thing aimed at them. The world is full of hateful people, frustrated at their wretched existence, and one of the drawbacks of social media is that it gives such people a platform and a direct line to broadcast their jealousy and rage directly at those celebs.

It's not about wanting to actually kill her, it's about wanting to make her feel the same sort of pain they do. It's pretty tragic, to be honest.

You might be right there Cheesyboy but I expect some of the trolls don't actually feel any pain and get some perverted pleasure from posting such remarks. Actually I have a mental image of them.

Bring back the stocks and pillories!

Rasta Power! Most entertaining match I've watched so far this Wimbledon, I hope we get a five setter out of it. Some of Brown's drop shots and half volleys have been amazing, he can serve too! Nadal seriously up against here.

Agreed, brilliant match. This brown guy is certainly entertaining!

Nadal is gone at the game sadly too many miles and wear and tear on his body I think. When he gets beat at the French Open you know he's not the player he was.

Didn't expect him to be the first 1 of the 'big 4' to fade.
