Televising Wimbledon Annoyances (and discussing the tournament itself)

Just a video of the first game in the Nadal match... pretty much imagine 4 sets of that. The guy played, as he said after the match, as if he had nothing to lose so went all out for everything. Ace on the second serve, not letting Nadal play how he wants.

Was refreshing to see him play very differently to most Wimbledon tennis. The only thing is that him saying he could play like that because no one would say anything if he got thrashed by Nadal so it didn't matter. Now there is going to be far far more expectation on him, will he play the same way next match or will he feel he has something to lose.

Hope he plays exactly the same way.

Don't know what the big fuss is. Brown destroyed Nadal last year on grass as well. Something like 6-3 6-1 if I recall and it was a carbon copy of this match (whack whack, Nadal helpless etc)

Nadal is 10th now and will be ranked ~12th after Wimbledon and yet he gets Centre Court over his higher seeded colleagues. He has absolutely no form at Wimbledon for the past 5 years, losing to 100+ ranked players almost every time. Perhaps next year they'll plonk him on court 18 with the rest of the 30-something ranked players.

^^^ Murray defeated Brown at that US Open.... Brown still plays the same exact way.

Dont think Brown was that brilliant - his gameplan worked. Don't think it will work against Murray or most other top 10 player.

More shocking for me was the performance of Nadal...so many misses/overshots all over the place. His 1st serve was atrocious as well.

Nadal was still no.1 in the world just one year ago, despite dealing with a wrist injury, and then had 6 months out with that ailment. It takes time to come back to full fitness and form - just look at how a similar lay-off affected Murray last year.

It's a nonsense to question why Wimbledon schedule him on centre court - he's a 2-time champion and the third or fourth biggest draw, in terms of crowd appreciation, in the men's tournament.

Dunno where the real Nadal is....as brooding as ever but a shadow of the indomitable force he was!

Maybe drug-testing in tennis has improved and he's had to come off.

Actually they did introduce something call a "biological passport" in September 2014 to help combat PED use. While correlation does not equal causation, it can be noted that Nadal disappeared from the tour for a few months soon after its introduction and since then has been in the worst form of his career. Make of that what you will.

4-4!

edit: 5-4 to Heather now. If Heather wins the next game, it's all square. Wouldn't it be great if she knocked out Serena Williams.

Advantage Watson... come on...

bah deuce..

Advantage Watson...

One set all! \o/
