There are two parts of this story, first one is that the GeForce GTX 1080 and GeForce GTX 1070 are out of stock almost everywhere but as soon as new stock fills in, they are sold out in minutes regardless of the pricing which leads several retailers to inflate prices on such products due to immense demand in the consumer market.

The GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 are high-performance cards and feature great performance increases over their old GM204 based counterparts. The GeForce GTX 1080 on average is about 25% faster than a GeForce GTX Titan X with OC models showcasing even better performance numbers.

One reason to believe as to why the GeForce GTX 1080 is selling great everywhere due to which it is out of stock on all retail stores would be shortage developed due to low availability of retail units. That doesn’t seem to be the case as sources close to Fudzilla (mostly NVIDIA AIB partners) have confirmed that the GeForce GTX 1080 was the biggest volume (high-end) graphics card launch done by NVIDIA. The GeForce GTX 1080 had even more units available in the retail market than the GeForce GTX 980 and GeForce GTX 980 Ti, all of which sold out in a single day.

:D

It seems whatever they charge for cards, people will pay it. I dont think this is good news for AMD as it would seem the whole price/performance angle they are going for isnt as important to people as they would hope.

I'm not saying it isnt important to everyone but a lot of people certainly want the best no matter the cost

Interesting

"sources close to Fudzilla" shouldn't be taken too seriously :p

Though, Gibbo etc do suggest the cards are selling well. Then again, it's in his interests to make us think that. *shrug*
Wonder how long till someone appears to argue the high-end card tag line...

Edit: I'm not arguing it being high-end... costs loads & is fast = high end to me :p

It beats the TX and the Ti which are high end cards by a decent margain. Its a high end card regardless of what people say

Shares in Nvidia have jumped ~35% since launch in May. Pretty phenomenal success story for them.

BUT WHERE ARE MY FLIPPING CARDS LOL :D

Very highly doubt it. For one this fourm alone has a high amount of people joining in, if this card sold has well then the owners thread would be packed.

This is no more than another clever Nvidia marketing strat.

Gibbo already confirmed this. I'm sorry that reality doesn't conform to your own narrative and agenda.

Lol, lol am sorry but if a 1080 sold So Bloody well they be more people on here bragging about it in the owners thread.

60 on the list? Not a chance this GPU sold more than the 970.
Not a chance, it's even sold more than 980 or Ti

Ah god, this makes me worried that prices are going to continue to rise. Nvidia milk us like never before and it's the best selling card. We are doomed lol.

Even worse is I contributed to said doom...

Bam! :)

1080 has already outsold 970 on the same time period. Not bad considering it cost double.

Don't take my word for it, read the threads of customers stating their position in the queue it is quite easy to see we have pre-sold 1000's of custom cards, then add on top the sales of the FE editions and you can very quickly see that already we have sold close to 5000 1080 cards.

1070 is slower yes, due to customers being shocked at the price, most were expecting it cost less, even I was but the cost unfortunately increased days prior to launch. However 1070 is now beginning to accelerate, but is still behind 970 sales.

But 1080 sales are incredible!
