The GeForce GTX 1080 Is The Best Selling High-End Card Ever Released – AIBs Confirm

Also not completely sold out. Some 1080 FE still in stock - some of it on the cheaper end (e.g. Palit for £599). Strange that the more expensive FEs seem to have sold first.

He his a bloody sales man. Again, he will tell you this. He wants your money.

Well on a personal level, what he says doesn't influence my decision making at all. I bought the 1080 weeks before he made that statement.

To say Gibbo's statement is untrue would be to call him a liar, plain and simple. That ain't cool.

Huh? How is telling you its selling well going to affect your decision to buy one? You either want one or you don't, you would have to be pretty dim to buy one just because someone says lots of other people are buying one.

I don't think you understand what the article is stating. Try re-reading it.

Of course the 1080 hasn't sold more than the 970 in total, but us has sold more in the last 3 weeks that the 970, 980 or 980ti did in their irst 3 weeks. AIB partners had more stock than any launch previously and yet are still struggling to keep up with demand.

I can do what ever I like, it's my own option. Sales are sales and Ocuk is a business.

Am sure Gibbo is a very nice and friendly person. But at the end of the day he not going to come in here and say Guys they just not selling, fast enough. Nope he will make everyone on there own forums believe they selling like hot cakes. This strat makes people believe they buying something great.

The same reason everyone wants an iPhone, all the cool kids have them, so seeing someone high up on Ocuk say they selling great makes people go and check it out.

Look Gibbo has said he has sold a 1000 in the first month and he has two to three times the stock of other major etailers in europe.

I think he also said he had pre sold up to 10,000

So back to the article. On those numbers I would tend to agree the 1080 is the best selling card based on pre orders.

On actual numbers shipped - no way. Gibbo has confirmed he has a 1000 480s in stock for launch day and he expects to ship at least 500 of them on that first day. Thats half of what ocuk have managed to ship 1080's in a month. On that basis 480s will overtake 1080s within a week.

sources close to Fudzilla (mostly NVIDIA AIB partners) have confirmed that the GeForce GTX 1080 was the biggest volume (high-end) graphics card launch done by NVIDIA. The GeForce GTX 1080 had even more units available in the retail market than the GeForce GTX 980 and GeForce GTX 980 Ti, all of which sold out in a single day.

I think you've all missed the point part from D.P. Its clever journalism to make it sound like an astounding story but if you pick its bones its a bit meh.

Its referring to launch day and launch day only. Read it again. So yes it might be true on that particular Friday the NDA lifted there were more units of 1080's available and sold than there was on the launch day of the 980 and 980ti.

The important phrase in the whole quote is "single day".

Even Gibbo's quote above says "same time period" which is only a few weeks. There is no possible way the 1080 from today has sold more units than two GPU's that have been out for what, 18 months ? Yes the 1080 may have sold more units in the same few weeks that the 980 and 980ti were out but c'mon think about it.

So no its not the best selling High End card ever released. It should be Best Selling High End Card ever released on launch day.

or to turn a phrase it may be the "best ever card ever released sold loads" but you cant bloody buy the model you want for love nor money at the moment. As in buy today get tomorrow. Not until xth July. I know one AIB who wont make that claim, EVGA. :)

Very highly doubt it. For one this fourm alone has a high amount of people joining in, if this card sold has well then the owners thread would be packed.

This is no more than another clever Nvidia marketing strat.

Not at all. Very few people care about joining some 'roll of honor' or some crap.

Prices in NZ holding steady (for now). Although I see the G1 Gaming edition is suddenly more expensive.

Almost bought a 1070 yesterday but knew I'd eventually want a 1080TI or Vega so just about hanging on still :p

Adn up till know EVGA have only managed to ship about 100 cards worldwide. I honestly dont beleive so many AIB cards were in stock on day one like the article claims.

Did ocuk, one of the biggest players in Europe actually had any AIB cards in stock on day one?

already we have sold close to 5000 1080 cards!

5000 in just over three weeks

What's the percentage of people who buy a 1080 at overclockers vs the people who want to be on TROH...very low I would think.

Most want to play with their cards, not win a piddling contest with people they don't know or who won't know them.

I understand not everyone who buys post on a fourm. But these things do happen and to what is being said has sold vs the honour thread it would be much bigger than 60 people.
