007 First Light

I’m about halfway through, but it’s not pulling me back. I’ve not switched the gaming pc on for a couple of weeks.

In terms of licensed games, it’s not a patch on Indiana Jones from last year. Not even close.

Horses for courses, I found Indi insanely boring and struggled my way through it before just deciding it wasn't for me.

Comparatively I couldn't put 007 down and even went after the platinum trophy on the game.

Same. Cut scenes aside I thought Indy was dreadful, got thoroughly bored of bonking bad guys on the head with a shovel somewhere in the catacombs and just left it there.

Paying full whack for Bond and playing Indy on GP for "free" may have had something to do with it though.

Given that NV's new driver with RR update to gen 2 model is out next week, I suspect we will finally get the PT update to this game then too considering the RTX trailer for this stated DLSS 4.5 specifically, and DLSS 4.5 isn't complete without RR 4.5.

It's out!

Only because it states MFG 200fps and since MFG isn't officially on 40 series yet....

I'll be trying it tonight yep but will likely stick with 2xFG as per usual path tracing games

Lmao it runs so good even with no FG. Tested 4x MFG and also all good, I can get 200fps+ indoors and 170+ outdoors. Input latency feels fast and smooth as well, it is essentially perfect using the Optiscaler MFG injection (latest version). Even without any FG it's 45fps outdoors and 60fps+ indoors but genuinely this is one of the handful of games where FG+Reflex are implemented really well and input latency is superb as a result.

The PT spec reqs of the game reflect Nvidia's push to sell 50 series clearly.

I also recorded the game offscreen because there is always someone who cries "But what about in motion!!!!!!!11" :p just so you can see how fluid it is as app based recording is never smooth enough for game capture.

Is that with Medium PT?.

It's pretty intense with Medium on my little 5070 anyway :D, around a 25% increase in frames lost compared to RE9 PT for example.

I do see a lot of complaints elsewhere about performance with it, but on the flip side it's quite impressive how much PT changes things in this especially with indoor areas imo. I can confirm reflections are quite nice too!:

Couple more comparisons from a mid-game area (these links expire 2 weeks from now) :)

Almost wish I had a reason to play the game more now.

High PT

I could play it without any FG and get 50-65fps typical depending on the scene with some infrequent drops to 45 or so but otherwise it's a smooth affair, with 2xFG or 4xMFG it's just smoother with no crazy increase in whole frame latency (24-31ms vs 29-37ms average).

Yeah there is a massive change in GI with PT, just really highlights how good PT is, at a fps cost of course:

Also.... BIG PT ORANGES

Btw the setting preview toggle for PT on vs off in the game menu disabled any FG during this comparison.

I can't make sense of the difference made to the floor under the window in this scene lol. Also it's hard to see it in the screenshot here, but the light from a window across the room is faintly reflected in the guys glasses .

I think this is a really good example of how light more accurately refracting the colours of the room really makes it feel more... like an actual room.

The specs are a bit over the top for the new path tracing? At 1660P, with my 4080 and 4x MFG I'm getting a solid 120fps, might be higher but the frame rate is capped at 120

Ever since the dawn of man, game specs have been exaggerated.

I think it's because using 4x MFG to hit 120fps wouldn't be what they recommend doing, due to likely image stability issues and the increased input lag.

I'm not too fussy, I'm also streaming the PC to my laptop and the input lag doesn't bother me, maybe it would if it was a first person shooter.
