1,000mbps powerline adaptors

cool aboutt the tp link recommendation,
will look at the 500mbps test results too thanks passey89

I paid to have en delivered tomorrow and I finnish at 12 so will do em as soon as I get home.

gotta wait till Monday for the sure protectors and the cat6e cable is off fleebay so might be sometime next week.

A nice option if:-

  1. You happen to have Coax outlets where you need them.
  2. You can stand the expense.

They wouldn't be much use in any of the houses I've lived in (one, possibly two outlets in the entire house).

isn't that exactly the same as running cabling through the house which I can't do as its rented anyway?

I'm looking at the 200Mbps TP-Link units myself at the moment, the 500s would be slightly more ideal but you can get a third adapter free if you buy one of the 200Mbps kits, which is a decent saving in itself and I need three anyway.

Remember you only get around 50% of the speed through powerlines.

So if your getting 200mbps powerlines that's 100mbps each way.

and 50% of that is only 50mbps.

So if you have 60mbps - 100mbps broadband you wont get your full speed.

The problems I had were, some HD video (1080P) was fully saturating the connection of homeplugs. And files took an age to copy over it.

well its 5pm and yodel still say its at shaw hub. (not my local yodel hub which is Lichfield).

Says its due to be delived today but doesn't say its out for delivery.

I hate yodel next day delivery my arse

Nope it replaces your aerial socket on the wall in 2 rooms of the house and allows you to backfeed the signal through the aerial using the coax wiring a bit like powerline but coax is more effective

yeh but I dnt even have a house aerial never mind the aerial sockets in the walls so its not an option for me.

Just plugged the 500mbps kit in and cat6e cable arrived same morning.

straight away 62mbps internet speeds.

LAN speed tests are coming up in the 70 / 80 's now instead of mid 40's.

Will post screens of test later and noise reducing power extensions arrive Monday so will re-tst when these arrive.

Also deciding if I should replace the superdud with a batter router. gotta be fster having the superhub just being modem than model and router

Why would changing the router help?

Unless you need additional features, or need better wireless performance, there's no point.

wireless is pretty bad could really do with that sorting.

upstairs right above the router i'm on 1 bar on strength.

Im in a new build now like there's any brick actually in here.

Also read that the superhub does do the routing part very well and can slow down speeds?

update.

power extensions arrived today

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=UP-055-BE&groupid=702&catid=55&subcat=1209

increased LAN speeds by 8mbps. Not bad needed the extensions and like the 25K guarantee as well.

Asus N56U arrives tomorrow so will update once that arrives

so using a Belkin surgemaster extension to plug the Powerline into over using a regular extension increased your speeds by 8mbps? Or have I got that wrong?
i Have a Belkin surge protector too, worth bearing that in mind.

yeh it increased LAN speeds by 8mbps, dropped ping by 1ms and internet speed went up by 0.57.

I put a surge protector onto my pc stuff in my room so the double wall plug has powerline kit in the left and belkin surge protector in the right with PC, monitor, speakers printer.

Then i put another 1 behind the tv to again in the left plug is powerline in the right belkin surge protector with tv dvd htpc surround sound.

they reduce noise by 30db so i'm uessing that what thats doing.

My asus n56u is arriving today so will see if that increases speeds again. Hope it increases my wifi though superdud if crap keeps losing wifi when in 3 feet awway from the hib.

*note though I am in a house that is onlt 10 months old so all wiring is brand new

You want the powerline adapter plugged directly into the wall, if possible. They can work on extensions, but they won't work on surge protectors.
