Not sure if any other bikers heard of these, but just ordered one from the states for my zx10

Instead of the usual 1/4 throttle turn to max throttle it will only be 1/5th, doesn't sound much but on a standard throttle it's very hard to rotate to max throttle without repositioning hand.

Reading about it's meant to make any fast sports bike feel like a monster, as you get get on the gas so easy... looking forward to fitting it.

The mod itself is a insert that goes into throttle twist grip... I'll post results once i have it and fitted.

I've been looking at these as well Fluke "Rifelmans"?

my only concern about using one is with the amount of dodgy roads (pot holes and dips due to subsidance) over here. it might make it a bit too Lively. we all know how easy it is the lift the front on the ZX10

yep that's the one :), not so sure either, but anything that makes bike quicker is a good thing...the fitting looks a little scary as you have to hack the cable about if wrong length and also dremmel things in your throttle assembly

your right though, power is already pretty insane especially since i lowered gearing. 3rd gear power wheelies happen 'on the bounce' and 2nd gear always lifts front whatever which can be a PITA as 2nd gear is fast overtaking speed on B roads and you have to short shift to keep front on the tarmac

i think i very rarely get throttle pinned atm, so hope it will make bike feel a lot more lively.

only other thing that might be as fun as this mod will be a quickshifter, you dont see many bikes on the road with them, but they are just crazy and make a lot of difference to the rate you can accelerate

just fitted the 1/5th throttle conversion and I swear bike now has 20bhp more. Job took about a hour, had to dremmel out throttle housing and the hardest bit was removing thread from throttle cable adjuster without damaging cable inside, but dremmel was fine taking time and doing it slow.

1st gear used to be quite gentle, now it's just plain savage

2nd gear used to be for overtaking with a gentle lift of front on power, now it's there purely to bite my head off and try and spit me off back

3rd gear now is as 2nd used to be, and front gently lifts on throttle im guessing at about 120mph, to much work to be looking at speedo and road at same time

such a little bit of plastic has turned an animal into the devil himself, love it!, best bang for buck mod ever!

yeah I heard about the zip tie thing, seems abit dodgy though :)

...must admit I was pretty scared of messing with throttle, get it wrong somehow and you'll end up embedded in a wall., but think / hope I done a good job, and even threadlocked the housing back together to be sure. They should make throttles like this from stock :D

now just need some new tyres, back has squared off and front has just worn to weird shape from heavy braking, might hang on abit longer though as summer a fair bit off yet.

man, replacing discs is just crazy expensive, in end on the zx12 just got cheaper EBC ones and they were ok though one warped and had to be changed under warranty. Gonna stick with PP 2CTs, but I'm not fast enough on the twisties to even slightly push them to limits... :)

here is piccy of insert installed I stole from someone...

this one is fabbed by some guy called rifleman on zx-10r.net, but tbh could be by anyone with some plastic and a file lol

he prolly cnc's them by the 100

Thanks for the Update Fluke

Think I'll give it a miss. there are so many twisty's up in the mountains here that you rarely get the crack the throttle open. I also think I'd miss the finer throttle control while doing them if that makes sence

I see where your coming from, deffo lost 'resolution' on throttle, which maybe aint best for the twistys

hehe Highside heaven on a ZX10 :p

Jonny69 id imagine just the zip tie mod would be good enough on a 50 or 125.

or just a on/off switch throttle, sry only kidding :D /hangs head in shame

i remember my days on a 50 with it pinned everywhere.. felt king of the road though

what bikes ya got Jonny69 ?

i agree with that, fastest way round town on a 125 scoot.. i used to have a vespa with 3-4ft long chopped forks on, was the most ill handling bike ever created, some nutters even put 350LC motors in them :D
