Hey guys,

In February I was struck with another round of bad depression which I've been suffering from for years, over the next month and a half I felt **** about myself and was generally having a rubbish time.

I decided it was time to make a change so I joined a gym and challenged myself to a 100 day challenge to get in shape and change my whole body's build.

I'm now on Day 53 just over half way and really enjoying myself.

Initial Stats were as follows:

25/04/2012

Weight: 105.5kg
Body Fat %: 35%

I got help with one of the PTs at the gym who initially put a 5 week program to initially shift the fat, it was a mix of cardio interval training and weights (using all machines bar bicep curls). Have to admit I much prefer the weights to the cardio.

Second weigh in:

22/05/2012

Weight: 104.5kg
Body Fat %: 32%

I then got really busy so didn't have the chance to take more pictures until last weekend.

I've not had the chance either to get the new stats.

Third weigh in:

20/06/12

Weight: 102KG
Body Fat %ge: 33%

I've now moved onto to a more advanced weights regime involving the free weights for standing shoulder pressing, front and side raises, tricep dips etc. I'm also doing lat pulldowns on the machine currently sitting at about 41kg, which is pretty good considering I started on 19kg in April. Still doing interval cardio using the rower and bike but still prefer doing weights.

Because I like doing the weights I've decided to add some Protein Powder/shakes to my diet to boost my performance. Going to the shop tomorrow to see what I can get.

I try to get to the gym 5 days a week as it is right next to my work so go Monday to Friday. To keep myself from slacking I setup a just giving page and donate £5 to Macmillan Cancer Support for everyday I go.
I was doing pretty well though got ill and had some depression counselling appointments at the other end of town so missed a few trips. The fund is sitting at £35 though I need to add in 4 more days after I get paid next week.

The diet up til now I've basically been cutting the calories back but I'm going to be focussing on macros soon to blitz the next 50 days.
Initially I dropped from 1800 calories for a few weeks then moved down to 1650 and finally I'm having 1500 calories. I'll be paying more attention and adding protein shakes and "good foods" to my diet now.

Any comments or feedback welcome.

TL;DR - 100 days body transformation - going well!

All progress is good progress  keep it up!

Just a note it may be worth having a look online first as it tends to be a lot cheaper when ordering protein . www.myprotein.com tend to be one of the best for value if you use the code "MP514098" it will grant you another 5% off your first order . You can also use the pricematcher on the front page to lower the cost more take a look at the supplements thread.

i wouldnt bother with shops its all over priced and often not the protein content they claim.

just grab some from http://www.myprotein.com/uk/
and if your going to use someones REF code for the first order discount use mine MP100257

you probably dont really need the protein yet if your just losing weight though , you really need to be eating a calorie surplus to build muscle so your probbaly good doing what you are now until you get your weight down and start eating a proper diet again

Congrats on the progress. Looks like you are making some good inroads!
Have you set yourself a weight/bodyfat % target?

Ideally I want to get sub 24% by the 100 days then down to about 8 - 10% by next year. Thats the plan anyway whether it'll be possible will be another thing!

Thanks for the tips. My friend works at Holland and Barrett and is going to give me some "mate's rates" so I'll compare that with the prices! Problem with buying online is I'm rarely in the house to receive the deliveries and can't get delivered to my work as I work in a bank and they're a bit fussy with receiving personal packages.

Do not buy H&B's own brand whey never mind how cheap it is, it's a terrible quality product!
The other brands they sell in there are ok but even with mates rates could still be quite expensive.
Congratulations on the progress though, you're heading in the right direction :)

What's the consensus on maximuscle products?

Good products, apart from the price. If you can get them at a bargaintastic price then go for it but they're no better than something you can pay half the price for.

Cool, not too fussed about price as I've already put aside a budget on my credit card for "health stuff and weights" couple more hours of overtime and I'll pay it off in one go :)

Good for you. My therapist suggested I get some more exercise as it would help with my depression and anxiety. I dug my bike out and have been going out 3 times a week and I'm feeling better for it. I've got my own goals in terms of distances to cycle, events to do, etc. It's really helping me to have some defined goals.

Yeah I'm trying to make an effort, dressing up in suits and ties for work (even though I don't have to), trying to get out the house more, getting to the gym. It all helps.

Good work Sash, keep it up. Can really see the difference in your face as well.

Will be keeping an eye on the thread, well done.

Thanks! The face was the first to go, back is tightening nicely too. Just need to keep working on getting rid of the belly!!

Funny how it goes isn't it, often the last thing to change is the first thing to go in my experience. I need to get rid of my gut - beer and lack of exercise is my downfall at the moment. I might set myself a similar challenge :)

Remember and reward or punish yourself for good effort or poor effort. Poor effort is punished by giving money to charity for me. Its quite costly if I don't go!

keep up the effort mate!
I would say the hardest is when you start to see some nice results. It feels like you have won and then you stop. Don't do that! Instead, do small aims, but often

No chance of that happening, this is the first time I've put in the determination towards something and giving it 100%. First target is sub 24% bf, then ramping up (or down) to 8-10%! Watching videos and finding sources of inspiration of what I want to look like is helping example Spartacus TV show and Joe Maganiello from True Blood.

That's great
Have you watched the film " I want to look like that guy " ? You can find it on stream on the internet

It's someone who has done your aim in 6 months
