Really? I mean come on. Just because he doesn't speak English doesn't make him not British, or any less British than you or I. There is so much dross on these forums these days. There needs to be some sort of test.

I speak English
I don't wear a turban etc.

He represents Britain at fundraising events, and gets national recognition in the media for doing something so amazing. When people see that he's British, they'll see he's representing Britain. What have you done Mr. Dirtydog?

But you're missing the most important point - we The British used to own him at one time and we gave him the title British.

You decided to make it about you when you contested the statement about him being more or less British than anyone else. At that point I'd say you opened yourself up to a certain amount of comparison.

I thinks that absolutely brilliant. Amazing to think that at the age of 100, he's firstly still alive, mobile and very active. I don't care about his nationality, just appreciate his accomplishment.

He was a citizen of India when it was part of the British Empire. Probably British before you were born

I do agree that immigrants should know English though. (Or Gaelic or Welsh but lets face it, they are rarely used in the majority of the UK)

It's also probably true that a lot of British people don't speak good English, but that doesn't mean that we need loads more non English speakers. It still makes sense to enforce.

There are growing fears that tens of thousands of people may have been granted British driving licences despite not being able to read road signs in English.

The rules currently allow the theory test to be sat in 19 foreign languages. People are also permitted to attend the practical test with a translator.

In total, 93,407 car driving theory tests were sat in a foreign language last year. There were 18,927 Urdu tests last year, 12,905 in Polish and 298 in Albanian.

Last night, Mike Penning, a transport minister, said that the Government was studying how to change the rules to ban the “politically correct” foreign language tests.

“I find it incredible that Labour thought it was a good idea to let people without a basic grasp of English loose on our roads,” he said. “Road safety should be our priority, not political correctness.

What a ridiculous situation, the sooner tests can only be taken ion English, the better.

Nice how instead of just admiring what is an incredible achievement some of you people have to look for a 'fault' in the guy. He doesn't speak English, get over it. I will never understand why people can't just occasionally take something positive at face value instead of constantly searching for the negative.
