"100%"

According to Wikipedia, the ancient Romans used fractions of 1/100, which are basically percentages. So there were probably Romans wandering about saying “C percentus!” to signify their agreement to things.

It’s a handy way nowadays to tell when someone is lying because after they make a statement they say ‘100%’ to give it some credibility.

Why is this a thing? The sorts of people who say it are generally the BS’ers of life who expect you to believe them when they add this to the end of their sentence. How can you believe such a person when they also have 1000% in their armoury? Or even one million percent? Is saying 100% a bit...
