I'm an optimist.. the after-market cooler will continue to give my cpu much cooler temps, however, it might well help a good deal on temps for oc's.. thermal paste? lmao..

trigger was pulled last night lol.. i've got a confirmation email, however santander on the phone this morning at 8.30!!! asking if I'd ordered lol.. Not expecting the 480 til 28th was what overclockers said, but I have a 650ti to install etc.. I'm thinking about win 10 now, I'm assuming I need the pro version.. better to buy full copy of 7 and upgrade? Or better to download 10 pro and buy an oem key? Ideally I'd like a physical installation disk/ zip drive, does windows key off the rj45 addy? Just want to know as if you clock, everything else changes.. Thanks for all your help and ideas.. like I said been out the loop a good while, but glad I've come up with a fairly decent system. You read and read, it ends up a bit frantic, nice for some sense from some clear minds :)

Now, once it's arrived and built, expect more posts regarding clocking/temps etc :)

you can just get normal windows 10 to be honest- I have Pro CD and buy keys - have confirmed that they were genuine Retail keys with MS over the phone when someone did the same thing- buying a cheap CD key haha

I believe if you know someone with windows 10 the can create a media creation - boot tool on a USB or DVD if you'd like to go about it that way - or just fork down the hard cash for straight up

Just as well I rang overclockers, just a note to everyone else who orders a build that has something on pre-order, by default they don't ship til they have the full order, so in my case the 580 is expected for around the 28th! Build should arrive tomorrow, i've got a 650ti to get everything installed, then when the g card turns up, should be laughing! Family are on alert for my xmas present already, a nice freesync monitor, it's gotta beat the gillette gift box no?

I shall try my best.. please do understand I've never owned an ssd pc.. next, please understand I've never had something that's going to cain 1080.. I've been buying games.. my steam account has rise of the tomb raider, doom, rise of mordor, (I've not even installed these yet!) like seriously, I've told the kids, daddies gone for 6 months :)

I will try and show with pics, what can be achieved, with a little bit of thought, a whole load of asking (from here!) and a bit of willingness to learn..
 
Ok the main build turned up on the 17th, can't fault OCers, an email and text to tell me what time the delivery would arrive, freeing up my morning for shopping etc.. Then the great news, text on the Friday to say by Monday 23rd, I'd have the 580 turning up!! Was funny, I was in a CEX looking at a RX480 8 gig for £280 second hand, when my text explaining delivery for the brand new rx580 arrived! (Sorry for third party chat, but in this case it does demonstrate they aren't even competitors!) Yep £30 cheaper, 15% roughly faster, and a 3 year warranty.. competitor? I think not!!!
To couple the enjoyment, I got dragged into a charity shop by my better half, I found a brand new Razer Taipan, in the box for £10. The gods must be smiling on me!!! Guy behind the counter said a shop had gone bust and the owner donated some old stock.. few other razer stuff but none like the taipan..
I've been super busy last week or so, haven't started the build, now it's kids half term so pressed for time. I'll try my best to take some build photos and then some stock speed benchies.. Then we can have some fun doing some clocking over the next few weeks. The radiator on the cooler is major heavy.. The case is flimsy as you like.. I'm used of aluminium cases that are nicely built.. but I shall persevere, and we shall see how the chips fall. This is essentially a new build that you guys helped to quote on, I have a monitor currently that can do 1080, so should be able to do some nice benchmarks and let people know what it's like.

Thanks again for all your help, made a big difference, the kids were amazed with the packs of haribo in the boxes, (they thought I was kidding!) now wish me luck to get up and running.. :)
