£1000 hoover

Thats like buying a ride on lawnmower for a 2mx2m garden. Totally pointless if you ask me.
I mean it's worth buying a decent product if you use it a lot yeah but thats overkill.

It's a hoover? Come on.

Yesterday my parents bought a 'Kirby Sentria' for £995.

Me personally I say RIPPED but my mother insists
"It cleans carpets, blinds etc. etc. and also comes with 35 years gurantee."

Opinions?

Meh, IMO just get a Henry hoover. Simple, good hoover that never breaks.

Unless you spend 8 hour a day cleaning someone's mansion, I can't see how one would ever justify spending £1000 on something like a vacum cleaner. If you think about it, you could have brand new cheapie vacum cleaner every 3 months for the next 10 years. As in - instead of emptying the bag, just chuck the whole thing away. Or brand new Bosch every year for a decade. And it will do the job just as well. £1000 for vacum cleaner has as much point as spending £1000 on a microwave oven to do asda value ready meals.

Mine's been kicking for 46 years with minimal maintenance. Imagine that it cost £1k back then. That's a bit less than £22 per year. I have no doubt that it'll keep on going for at least another 10 years, and the thing is powerful enough to suck spilled liquids completely out of 3/4" pile carpets. Not a bad investment IMO.

The initial outlay is bonkers though. That's why so few people buy them.

EDIT: On the Tesco web site I see the cheapest cleaner with beater brushes is the Tesco VCU007 for £39.97. How long do you think that vacuum cleaner will last? How well do you think it will operate?

I certainly could understand it as a investment in a mansion, when vacuuming it from top to bottom, 50+ rooms takes all day, but not for the typical UK home.

I would much prefer to get one of these...
