£1000 watch?

surely a plus as it's more accurate?

I think the people who spend that kind of money on watches, don't really rank accuracy as the most important criteria when looking at one.

If you look at most expensive jewellers' websites and even those of the manufacturers themselves then often no indication of accuracy is given.

What I don't get is how they can make something so small cost such a large amount of money O_O

Surely you're just paying for the badge :/

Loving nice watches and having a nice lifestyle do not need to go hand in hand. If you wear a watch to impress or portray an image then I concur, but if you appreciate fine watches for their aesthetic attributes or their build integrity I say it matters little what you have to ‘back it up’...

OK, but I have visions of Chavs or the usual Likely lads you see every weekend in Clubs and suchlike flashing their designer watches, but being let let down with their dress sense ... it really has to be the Full Metal Jacket Rich Guy package or nothing .. or just be yourself.

Seriously, really rich guys dont boast or even talk about fancy watches, its about the bottom of their list.

And yes I'm jealous :p

I'm not really ... I'm not too materialistic, very happy with what I have.

To the OP, hope you find a suitable gift, mate.

THAT I really like. I haven't been into watches for some time because they've been huge chronographs for the last 10 or so years. I really like that one. Maybe I'll have to get saving...

I like the OP's upgrade ratio. Factor of 100 price difference please :D

Hi I'm 40 this week and I need a new watch. I'm used to a £1K xxxx which I've had like forever. Spec me a new one for £100K :D

You could sell the one you get for your 60th and have a very comfortable retirement :P

I'm not a watch snob... hence my £10 pulsar currently...
However...

As it's my 30th (landmark, in our family) then I've been asked to choose a decent watch as a long lasting gift.

Why £1000 though? This is in your thread title.

I promise you they do.

Well, surprise surprise, you have really modest guys like David Gilmour that have millions who still dress in Jeans and t Shirts unless the wife (Polly) tells them to smarten up for an occasion, they never bother with these trinkets.

They would not be seen dead with stuff like this.

I just think its odd why this site has this expensive watch fixation?

Fair enough if he wants a £1k watch. Personally I'm not keen, I'm too clumsy to have something worth £1k strapped to my arm:p

Best watch I ever had was the Casio TV remote one:cool:

And yet Nick Mason has more exotic cars than most people could shake a leafy stcik at

Why not, why do they have to justify anything to you ?? This is a budget and hes asking what he can get with it.

If he's got money to throw about, good luck to him.

He's an inspiration in these dark times of recession.
