1000watts sub

Nope, unless you can find a driver with the specs that recommend fitting into a box and design type of your Logitech. It's likely the Logitech amp has EQ to flatten it's response, this mess up the response of a different driver.

Just buy a new subwoofer.

i cant afford a new decent subwoofer, max i could afford is £100 at moment, and the z5500 speakers wouldent link to it.

i bought a 15" monster sub for £45 off the 'bay. put it in a 6cu.ft box and you've got one loud cheap sub. at that price it doesn't matter if the the sub is a little slow or the top end bass isnt perfect. its a bloody steal for what itcan do.

what you need to understand is that logi stuff, or indeed any all in one speaker/amp setup, are cheap components sold to the masses at a profit. nothing more.

£24.99 buy now. How much you betting it wont trounce the logi in every way?

looks a steal for £25. would it be possibe to wire something like this to an amp and stick it in a box, or does it need to be ran off a car. Sorry, dont know much about car subs/electronics, what I do know is that my mates celestion £100 sub took a huge poo on my megaworks sub (and my other mates Z680 sub)

as far as an amps concerned, a speaker is a speaker. as long as the amplifier can come with the load, there wont be a problem:)

only got a cambridge A1 amp though it drives some technics speakers very well. Is there a way to section the bass to only the sub rather than hammering bass through my speakers aswell (as there wouldnt be much point) other than running the sub through an amp of its own?

Shiva is £100, so if you can get amplifier and wood free should be ok. Got all the details to build a enclosure, loads of info on forums with ported/IB/sealed box/TL designs.

My room is upstairs, the size of the room is about 7x6, would that shiva or w/e it is do a good job, well, would i never end up turning it up full?

You'll need a subwoofer with a in/out speaker level crossover, ideally one with a variable and not a fixed crossover (mine is 80hz, not too bad for HT, and not even used if using bass managment elseware in the AV preamp, disable subs own crossover, but if using sub in a analogue Hi-Fi setup sending it full-range might want L/R low pass a bit lower ie 40 hz, then subwoofer to do the <40hz material) Or you could buy an external crossover, these are quite expensive. You could go the whole hog and use active crossovers, convert your speakers to active (no crossover) , crossover is on the racking system, LF/MF/HD crossovers etc...Bryston make a unit but this is very expensive, and you need details on the speakers (Q)

Otherwise an AV amplifier bass management will do this...generally they suck for music. Most Hi-Fi people just send full-range to the L/R speakers, regardless of the speakers capabilities, unless you're using sats should be fine as music isn't that bass driver destroying intensive as films.

Will it's hard to presume how loud you actually want it, and material comes into it also. A subwoofer playing music from a CD will be able to play louder than a subwoofer playing a film, as the dynamic range from DVD's is generally louder on the loudest parts (play Toy Story 2 intro as an example) Buy a sound pressure meter and measure average and maximum dB levels. Contact Tom at SVS and he'll usually help, even though you might not going to buy a SVS product..

also post a thread here, a few knowledgeable people on the subs section

Are those measurements in feet or meters? If it's in feet a SVS 25-39 PCi will be more than enough, in fact probably struggle to fit in your room. If it's in meters I would go for PC Plus or PC Ultra. I use a 20-39 PC Plus in a 3.5 x 4.5 meter room and haven't bottomed it out, no port chuffing or other audible sounds that show it's stuggling, and I have put it loud. Pink Floyd DSOTM heartbeat intro is pretty fun :) That isn't a problem for mine, heartbeat pulse throbs the floorboards, no parping from the sub.

hmm, i will save up for an amp and speakers, then i will ask my parents for the sub as a christmas present, hopefully they will allow up to £300. My z5500 Throbs the floorboards, i think it will do untill xmas, tommorow i am going to put it in a corner on an angle and see what that does.
