What is it?

I've got a practically mint Optima Mid Custom Special sat in the garage.

It's nothing special, it's an Outrage buggy IIRC, it wasn't that expensive years ago but there's at least scope for upgrades etc! Probably not a patch on what you're used to though ;)

You can make RC cars do crazy speeds

That Holiday Inn carpark would be ideal for some miniature hoonage at the next meet :D

Lol how fast can these tamiya things go anyways?

No idea about Tamiyas, as I wouldn't bother owning one, especially if the plan is to see how quick it can go.

Easily get 60MPH out of an electric 1/12th pan car, probably higher, but you certainly wouldn't be lasting the 8 minutes that a standard race lasts.

Nitro is a different story entirely, back when I raced heavily, the HPI ProCeed would do 100+ out of the box.

Unless you buy a Tamiya TRF in which case they are world class cars.... but with a price to suit.

Nitro bored me, the instant throttle response and torque from electric was much better.

Id agree with the suggestions made by Paradigm but probably spend more and get a decent steering servo, makes a hell of a difference as they are much quicker and stronger.

Yes, a decent metal geared FET would be what I'd look at.

Nothing worse than a slow steering servo, steering lag is dire.

I think it will be noisy, slow, break a lot, and be made from nasty brittle plastic, as with all low-end Tamiyas.

If you want Electric Off-Road, I'd more look at the likes of http://www.apexmodels.com/gbu0-prodshow/101402.html

That's ready to run, all gear included.

Do they do kits you build, i want a little hobby for these 6 weeks you see, 2 weeks to build one, a month to drive it :)

My gut feeling is there is more to this story...

Don't let the toy car subterfuge deflect you, or anyone else for that matter. Until I get a chance to go through his third bin bag, I'm sticking with my original "high on Viagra and Mr Kipling French Fancies" theory. I'll be glad when this nightmare is over.

No the cake is mine all mine, and those little blue pills, i just love them!

See, it's that sort of brazen faced attitude that has landed you with the fine and ban. You probably walked in to court with an erection and a jam moustache, like you're above the law or something.

MrLol got a 28 day ban for doing 107 so comparable to the ban here. The length of the ban goes on circumstances at the time and two things that would have went against Dimondmark is that is was dark and he had a passenger in the car.

What is harsh in this case is the fine usually a ban would result in a lower fine. I have sat in a few cases at the local court and they are interesting to watch you are basically out of luck if the magistrate takes a dislike to you which appears to be the case here.

i didnt have a passenger, but it was in the dark. almost 1am to be precise.

As for mark, sorry to hear of your story mate. Welcome to the kangaroo court that is the magistrates court. Where the fine can be anything from £60 to £2500 and the magistrate can fine you anything they like inbetween. Likewise the 7 to 56 day ban they can hand out to you. They are completely at leisure to decide what to give you.

Blatently the magistrates have made a character judgement on you, and gone to town on you. No idea why they decided they didnt like you, and it would be wrong of me to try and guess as i dont know you either, but whichever way you cut it, my £70 fine + £30 costs + £15 victim surcharge and 28 day for doing 107 makes your punishment seem stupid and outrageous.

My commiseration's.
