Its depressing is what it is, and now im being subjected to my wife going on and on about this ML she wants, its all wrong when she knows im waging a 1 man boycot of Mercedes.

Im going to go and hide in the garage soon and get away :)

Buy a truckload of matches and build one of these mothers:

That'll keep you busy :)

Im going to order one of those Tamiya radio control cars to build, that will keep me going.

They look a bit complicated for me, try and see if you can pick a good 4 wheel drive one, not to hard to build.

What else do i need those crystals and servos etc?

For a decent kit, you'll need the full spectrum of electronics.

So, electronic speed controller, steering servo, batteries, receiver, transmitter.

Now depending on if you get a 27MHz/40MHz or 2.4GHz transmitter/receiver combo, you may or may not need crystals (2.4GHz doesn't use them, you pair the devices together muchlike bluetooth). You should get 1 set of crystals (RX & TX) with your transmitter/receiver combo.

As for "not hard to build", none are particularly difficult, even if they look it. The hardest part IMO is filling shocks without making a mess.

Nice one cheers for that, if you got a minute could you highlight the bits i need on online shop, pick me a 4wd one with the bits i need.

Thanks for that mate, iv got to go with wife to choose floor tiles for an hour now, this is turning into a fun day i can see already :)

I think it will be noisy, slow, break a lot, and be made from nasty brittle plastic, as with all low-end Tamiyas.

If you want Electric Off-Road, I'd more look at the likes of http://www.apexmodels.com/gbu0-prodshow/101402.html

That's ready to run, all gear included.

Do they do kits you build, i want a little hobby for these 6 weeks you see, 2 weeks to build one, a month to drive it :)

No the cake is mine all mine, and those little blue pills, i just love them!

It was a guilty plea and i took a solicitor because i thought he would make a better job of putting my mitigation across than i would.

as part of the reason for the fine/points/ban is to try and ensure you don't break it again - if you're busy making excuses for why it was "ok guv", they're liable to make the point a bit harder that the law does apply to you in the hope you'll take better note of it next time.

Rightly or wrongly at least showing the appearance of remorse does tend to affect the sentence, be it from a Magistrate or a Judge.

Do you not think they hear the same

"the car just ran away from me"

"im about to embark on an advanced motoring course"

"my poodle jumped on my foot and made me hit the accelerator"

"my sick nan needs a lift to hospital every tuesday"

**** excuses every day of the week?

I was apologetic, i just pointed out that my offence was not the same as weaving in and out the traffic, in the rain on the M25 in the rush hour, 5 up in a Corsa.

Now if i was a magistrate with 1% of unbiased reasoning brain power, that would annoy me less than the usual **** above that i would hear 5 times daily.

I think i will have to bow to the majority and accept that a solicitor was a mistake.

My daughter is reading this and has now shouted down it was my pastel pink polo shirt i had on under my jacket :)

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I read something on PH forum which was quoted off mx5nutz forums which goes someway toward supporting the theory that having a solicitor with you will get you raped by magistrates:

I am making the assumption that said barrister and solicitor were with him. I've quoted a post by Jonny671 from here

If you notice he was nicked on the A2 in Kent, i was on the M2 in Kent, perhaps Kent magistrates just have a down on people speeding.

I honestly dont know.

Here is a quote from Moon Monkey in the same thread....

Get a lawyer..!!

Mate of mine was done for 117mph on the A1(M).

He got something like a £1,500 fine
2 week driving ban
0 points
Oh, and £1,500 legal costs (good value in his eyes)

A colleague is a magistrate and (at the time) his best advice was to get legal representation, be smart, grovel but the outcome all depends on what mood the mag is in on the day...

I dont think it makes 1 jot of difference going with or without a solicitor, in my case i look a bit rough and ready, broken nose, big lump etc and i have a non refined cockney accent and dont come over the best so i took the solicitor route.

I dont know what else i can say on this subject.

Right I suppose so. Sorry I didn't mean to wade-on with my size 10s, I was trying to offer another case. Should have left alone I'm sure!

No problem at all, believe me i have spent hours wondering what i should have done or not, not a problem talking about it.

Is it doing your nut in not being able to drive?

You should have some fun like financing revolutions or grab one of those off road buggy things that can do 40mph that they had on Top Gear and go annoy the local farmer :D

I havent had to go anywhere yet so its not been a problem so far :)

Pesky builders keeping you busy :p

You wouldnt believe the drama i have had with the building inspector and the builders, this has been a nightmare and now we are 12 weeks behind because of this **** weather.

Dare I ask what your insurance next year is going to be like mark?

Iv got an Admiral multi car policy, and they have said an extra 150 quid, nothing at all really, but i suppose they want to keep my business.

Unlucky on the seemingly harsh punishment OP.

However, I never go above 100mph on any road. It's just a rule I always stick too. I have done in the past but I would not risk my license like that.

It seems that the magistrate has means tested your fine by noting that you were driving a 1 year old Porsche? (if I read thread correctly). To be honest, a £200 fine isn't going to cut the mustard for someone driving your car.

They ask you what you earn, the guide line is supposed to be 1 weeks disposable income after all outgoings paid.

They dont ask about bonus's or expenses though :)
