Can you back that up with actual evidence?
970 started off with performance at around 780, and pulled ahead of both the 780/780ti in new games
1060 6GB launched with performance on par with 980, and again pulled away from the 980 in new games
2070 started out around 10% slower than the 1080, now it is running ahead of it in new games

Pretty certain the 2080 will leave the 1080ti behind by a good 10-15% in new games soon (same can be said about 1660ti vs 1070).

Don't know how you came to this conclusion, when I have literally gave you clear example of the very natural of how Nvidia cards have historically been. But whatever, keep putting those hands over your ears and go "la la la la la I ain't listening".

The 2080 is ALREADY faster than the 1080ti in the more recent games. OP would be better off with a 2080 than a 1080ti (so long as he doesn't run into the infamous GDDR6 memory problem).

And this is closer to the actual question that I asked, so which games? I'm genuinely interested. Where is the proof that the 1080ti is being neglected in favour of the 2080 - which is what you claimed.

He is right about 2080 ALREADY faster than 1080 Ti in new and more recent games.

This is probably correct but not that you would ever know without an fps counter.

Also the 2080 fe is overclocked out of the box where as the 1080ti fe is not. So you need to take this into account when looking at benchmarks.

Lets look at those results.

For example Metro Exodus at the resoltion and graphic detail I would play at (Extreme and 1440p) there is 1fps difference between both.
Far Cry New Dawn the 1080ti is as fast as the 2080 and 2080ti
DMC5 - there are 8 fps difference (161fps to 169fps) - around 5% difference.
For Assassins Creed Odyssey, again at 1440p there is 1fps of difference.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider - it is as fast as the 2080ti/2080 running DX11. In DX12 is 3 fps slower, less than 2% difference.

Some other games there is a slightly bigger difference, up to 10% or so, this is basically the same as when it came out, on the whole there isn't much in it, just like when it came out last year.

Hi all,

My Zotac 1080ti AMP! died and they are going to refund me 749 Euros because they don't have any replacements in stock.

What can I buy with that these days? I'm aware I got an Amazing deal at the time so I imagine I won't be able to replace it unless I spend more :(

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

G

Are Zotac the ones refunding you?

Yep i've seen this too. When the 2080 came out and people claimed the 2080 was faster. Only in the odd game because of the boost clocks but 1080ti clocks to 2ghz no problem a good chunk over boost so i knew where i sat at the time. But not looking at reviewers and the 2080 and overclocks i see it actually is taking the lead more and more in newer games. It's just what nvidia does. It focuses on the drivers for their newer cards for newer games. Not saying they don't optimise drivers for older cards such as the 1xxx series but they just don't put the effort in to keep ahead in the game as they want to sell the new gen aka 2xxx series cards still so making them look in the best light possible is financially much better for them.

Why would I take £650 when I could get a brand new 1080ti AMP! that's worth £1000+?

I could sell the replacement and get a 2080ti.

Also if the replacement is new why couldn't I just register that with Zotac and get a new warranty?

If I've misunderstood, please do correct me cause these are genuine questions...

/edit I completely agree that being fully refunded for a card I bought 2 years ago is excellent, but not when the price of that card has gone up 50% since I spent that money. IF I hadn't got such an amazing deal on the 1080ti in the first instance I'd have a lot more to play with.

/edit also it doesn't sound like they want the old one back if I go for a replacement.

Cheers,

G

Dude the only place you could sell the zotac for a cool grand would be eBay and the buyer would most probably send you back a broken gtx780 and he'd get a full refund. I would not put that on eBay personally as the scammers would be falling over themselves to pull your pants down.

Going to see what money I have when the refund goes through. I'm not usually happy unless I'm upgrading, so losing 3GB of ram and similar performance is not my ideal solution.

May end up with getting a 2080ti just so it feels like an upgrade.

Would a titan x 2016 be as good or better than my 1080ti AMP for gaming?

Found one on the members market :)
